So following that logic any home game where attendance does not reach expectations then a subsidy is payable from the AFL.

if scheduled for tv and not crowds yes

My expectations for each Brisbane home game is that 100,000 people will show up so let's gave them lost of money.

You'd be complaining just as much when 6000 supporters show up on a Sunday night for a Lions match

20,000 and 6000 are very different numbers...

really depends on the stadium and who you play. 6000 could work out to be more than 2000

False. If you divide each of those two numbers by themselves, then they're actually equal.

An interesting article re-inforcing the difficulty AFL has in getting into the market in Brisbane.

http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-premiership/wayne-bennetts-return-to-brisbane-broncos-a-big-blow-for-brisbane-lions-presence-in-queensland-market/story-e6frf3e3-1226997864114?from=public_rss&utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed

Trust the reference in delay in naming CEO is purely due to the Bennet factor in the article but any appointee will have their work cut out gaining a foot hold in corporate sponsorship.  The article goes on to say they see Lions at the bottom of the 4 codes mainly due to no big names and on field performance.

Capper

interesting read. I think that the Lions will be better off than the Knights (Bennett's old team)

6000, 20 000, 2000, eh? What would be the numbers if Tasmania had a team? Don't quote the current attendances, it is irrelevant to what an actual Tassie team would pull

End of the day, a Tassie team over the current, but hmmmm

Hey sorry, am all for footy to be shown and promoted in those Northen states! Not my point at all so, am sorry

Mailman the 2nd

GWS will pull a lot more supporters when they start winning games consistently. They are currently getting crowd attendances around the same as NRL, which is a good sign early.

Capper

I would rather go and see a GWS game than any NRL game, the problem is they play them all out west

Yeah, I feel sorry for Tasmania.

I can see why the afl made the call to make  second sydney team over tassie though... SYdney has more than 21 times the population of hobart... that means that if gws pull just 5% of sydney's population into following afl, they'll have created more supporters than hobart's entire population.

I still firmly believe that Tasmania deserve a team as well.  Maybe a relocation of a Melbourne Team.
