TKelly and Fritsch ---> Rockliff and Walters, somebody talk me out of this
No argument here, doing the same trades

Although id love someone to talk me out of walters, hate not getting a port/gc player

I was going to bring in Walters this week, but now I am wondering if I should get Rocky instead

They both have the same BE more or less, but Walters bye is the killer

I was going to bring in Walters this week and then next week bring in 2 of Rocky/Gray/Hoff/Boak

Now I am wondering if I should bring in Rocky this week, then 2 of Gray/Hoff/Boak next week

Im bringing in both, no right answer but id go the port/gc player seems better for the byes (if you can only get 1)

Well that's it RD if your bringing him in I'm steering clear  :P

Good call!

Rocky would be M8, but once the byes pass I then turn Holman into Danger/Cripps and move Rocky to M9

Sounds logical, but that doesn't count for much in this game lol

I guarantee other problems will pop up in your side and you will find you play Rocky at M8 for most of the remainder of the season.

I would advise everyone to just trade in the best player they can for their M8 and leave M9 to underperforming existing premiums you have. Could be a Dusty type at this rate.

I'd agree if I was in the upper rankings say maybe within the 2500, play it safe.  I'm around the 6000 rank and see this as an opportunity to try and get back some rank and I don't think it is overly risky.

Rocky provides cover over the byes though. Bringing in Danger for example is another R14 bye player which makes it harder

I also have Holman who will be probably be 350k+ so it won't be that hard to turn him into a prem mid after the byes

If the decision is Rockliff v Dangerfield for example, how likely is it that you breakeven on points in that matchup let alone outscore him? You would be relying on an injury basically.

The current overall leader is carrying Merrett, Stefan Martin & forward pocket Robbie Gray. Also has Hogan & Ryan as leftfield selections. Currently doesn't own Dangerfield, Grundy, Simpson, Lloyd, Webster, Hurley, Oliver & Walters.

Obviously just one example, but it proves you may not need to make such drastic POD selections to claw back some ground.

This is true, and perhaps it's cos I'm a gambling man...  :P

I'm not really looking to claw back ground

I just want to win league matches and improve my overall rank but I'm not going to win overall so any other position other than 1st is meaningless in reality

Rocky as a temp M8 for 3-4 weeks, then pushes to M9 - there's every chance a prem mid will get injured or miss a game or two in the back half of the season, so having Rocky as cover there is going to be much better than any rookie, plus the bye coverage he provides too.

EDIT: The appeal of getting Rocky now and Danger later is that the money saved means I can double upgrade in the forward line next week, where as if I get Danger now I can't do that next week, and this also lets Holman generate more cash and field as cover during the byes

Yeah I have been trying to decide between Rocky and Walters all week.. the sorry state of my byes position means Rocky is very tempting

My Chumps

Did somewhat of a deep dive to talk myself into/out of this.

Rocky had an interrupted pre-season. He said in a press conference after the GC game that he didn't feel right for the opening 4 games of the season. Staff told him to sit out a week, then returned with two big games in the SANFL. Proceeds to score pretty well playing mostly midfield upon return to the ones, then gets another week off to do some more fitness work last week. Primed and ready for a big second half of the season (flower me I sound like a Port supporter on BigFooty)

You'd be silly not to really

Still only a 98 & 102 on return though, so there are still question marks on whether he can actually achieve the 120+ scores at Port that are needed from a starting premium midfielder.
