Anthony Morabito's future at Fremantle beyond this season is unclear after the luckless midfielder was again overlooked in the side named to face Brisbane at Patersons Stadium tomorrow night.

Morabito had been expected to play his first game for the Dockers since 2010 against the Lions, but wasn't even named as an emergency.

The West Australian understands the 22-year-old, who signed a one-year contract extension late last season, has become increasingly frustrated at the lack of opportunity in recent weeks and has so far declined to enter discussions regarding a new deal.

"If it's the right thing, he'll come in, if not, he won't," Lyon said.

"All the players are keen, we're keen, but at the end of the day it's about picking the best team.

"His time will come. We all want it to happen.

"The context is he's missed three years of footy, he's played 10 games in three years. That's a fair bit of conditioning off significant rehabilitation that he has to make up.

"He's making the ground quickly, he's certainly starting to have output that entitles him to play some AFL footy. But he's still in a building phase."

It's most likely that Morabito has been dropped as an emergency so that he can play another game for Peel to get some more match fitness.

To the Saints! He would be well worth the risk. Man is a jet.

Morabito pushing for selection with 28 disposals and 2 goals for Peel yesterday.  Tough question is: who does he replace from the current side?

Ricochet

He surely has to be close mate. I don't think he can push anyone out on form.

Not really, all the boys played well on the weekend.

I would hate to be at selection meeting this week.  Tough call but Morabito's form does warrant selection

"Fremantle coach Ross Lyon says Anthony Morabito is no closer to playing this weekend despite another best on ground effort for Peel. Lyon spoke to Sports Today and says defender Luke Mcpharlin is a small chance to return for the derby."

His form in the WAFL would have meant a chance in front of Sylvia, Pearce and Sheridan IMO.

Sheridan was already dropped.  Clancee was the sub and Sylvia is playing as a forward.  Morabito has been playing HB and pushing in to the mid.

Not that I would question your wisdom when it comes to freo mate, you just asked who I would drop for him. Pearce came in for Sheridan who played a few games in a row and was solid if not spectacular, but they all can play a similar mid/fwd/half back role.

Also, position wise the amount of midfield rotations means it would be a simple shuffle to have him play on the wing or half forward and I fully expect him to start as the sub in at least his first game.
