Not really any good trade options for me this week, thinking about getting some solid bench players in going C. Cameron and LLoyd to McGovern and S. Martin. It makes no cash although probably adds some better JS and scoring potential to my bench with better cash generation. Thoughts? Or reckon there is better use of trades?

Depends on what you're going for, overall you prob do want at least 1 good scoring bench cover.  I am going for league win so will only eventually have 1 reasonable bench cover (eg Xellis) and the other will be downgraded to the lowest player that could possibly get a game this year (eg Honeychurch), just one example in my midfield.  This will allow me to bank cash needed towards the end of the year to make any small upgrades I might need, otherwise my two trades will be used to sideways premo's when they miss games (if we know about them prior).  For me there is no point having too much cash on the bench.

Having been someone who suffered the Beams and SJ late withdrawals this week, I can see a massive benefit in having an extra premium option on the bench. I'm looking at players like Montagna, Suckling, Wingard and Martin as my extras in each position. Players who aren't your A+ premium players but are likely to give a good score in the event of a late withdrawal.

Thats doable too, I might even let Miles be my M9 as he can pump out some great scores, but I don't think you'd be wanting to bring these guys at their prices when your team is fully complete.  I'm going in with the plan of upgrading underperformers with guys in form to get the wins in my league..if I have trades to spare then I'll put a decent bench option in there.  I think two on your bench ties up cash that can be the xfactor for your team, thats what I'm thinking anyway.  I've never gone for league win before as I usually go for overall, so trying soemthing that I think will work.

You'll be pissed when a late out costs you a GF when you could have Jelwood/Montagna type covering instead of a Claye Beams. I personally believe strong bench cover is a necessity. You can't plan to sideways trade all your premium players when the get a rest come finals time.

If I can afford strong bench cover then I'll probably do it, but if not then I'll cop a Xellis/Miles score in the mids, a Langdon in the backs, Martin in the fwds and a Derrickx in the rucks.
