Exactly. Everyone acts like the big 3 era is over in Miami, yet OKC couldve beaten SA with a healthy Ibaka and then Miami wouldve won the title. They really aren't far away from the chip, I think they make the finals again even without the big 3 reconstructing their deals. Timmy, Manu, TP and Pop will all be back. The only Spur I think that might leave is Mills :o gotta get dem cheques! Indy have peaked imo, Miami would knock them out again. Its Chicago that could challenge if they get Melo. Or Washington if John Wall and Brad Beal elevate again.

Its the whole way LeBron handled his first decision. Cant go through that shower again imo.

Its definitely the "safe" way to do things, i just dont "feel" thats what happens bcos the loss was so immense.

LeBron would have come right and said "we will be back" if he thought they have enuf, he sat in silence for 3-5 secs :-\

Then went on to say, blah blah blah, blah blah blah... he aint rolling out the same setup next year

Sure the loss was immense, but I think that was a bit of an abberation. It seems like an over-reaction to have to blow things up  :-X Pat Riley said it well, you're not going to win every year...

Judging LBJ after just losing the finals though, wouldnt have had a good think about it yet!

Yep I think they all stay. Perhaps reconstruct their deals to get more help, but I doubt superstar quality help.

I hope he goes to Cleveland. Higher degree of difficulty to win there, I think..

Interesting read, and exactly what a good GM should be doing. In this league you need superstars, and pairing Love with Rondo would be a power duo in a weak eastern conference. Once you have the two superstars, guys start wanting to come play with you. So that's option 1, cash in the assets we've collected to get a superstar.

But if that doesn't work, you can't hold onto Rajon Rondo any longer. Having a player like him about to demand max money just doesn't make sense on a rebuilding team. I've always like Sacramento as a landing spot for Rondo so pick 8, Mclemore and IT would be the deal I'd look at. That gives us picks 6, 8, 17 in this draft to pair with the young guys in Sully, Olynyk and Bradley. The future looks good!

Interesting off-season ahead for Boston.

I cant see us trading for Rondo now as Gay just opted in to his $19.3M.  We still have lots of bad contracts from the previous ownership group

DeMarcus Cousins - $13.7M for 4 seasons (HAPPY with this contract)
Carl Landry - $6.75M for 3 seasons (expensive for a guy who hasnt played)
Jason Thompson - $6M for 3 seasons (OVERPAID)
Derrick Williams - $6.6M with player option (OVERPAID)
Jason Terry - $5.45M for 1 season (We really need to trade him to a championship contending team)
McLemore - $3M - Rookie contract (Happy with this contract)
Travis Outlaw - $3M for 1 season (OVERPAID)

What it means is we are at $66M in this seasons cap - BEFORE re-signing Thomas.  If we traded for Rondo we need to add $10M to the salary which would put us in luxury ($13M for Rondo, but give up $3M in McLemore).  There would be no guarentee that Rondo stays as his contract expires after this season.

It's a tough ask to pay luxury tax for a lottery team.

That being said, it would only be 1 season of luxury as we could re-negotiate Gay's contract - no way he will be getting $19M for his next contract.  You would expect Rondo to be on a similar contract (if he agreed to stay).

That would leave a big 3 of DMC (24yo), Gay (28yo), Rondo (28yo) which is a very solid team.

Haven't read the last two pages, will catch up later.

Anyway, Melo has opted out of his contract. Fingers crossed he goes to the Bulls, otherwise I am no longer following this league and will start going for an Euroleague team.

Why do you think the WHOLE CITY REJOICED when the Maloofs finally sold.  Surely they have to be the worst owners in the history of the NBA.
