kilbluff1985

so they get permission to play and get punished for it?

Thought I heard somewhere that Fletcher wasn't part of the program? May just be my mind playing tricks on me though.

A FORMER Essendon player seeking to sue the AFL has had an application to protect his identity rejected.

Lawyers for Hal Hunter, who did not appear in court on Wednesday, sought a suppression order on the basis that legal action would relate to medical treatment he received as well as his personal health records.

Supreme Court Justice John Dixon rejected the suppression application, and refused to allow Hunter to use a pseudonym.

He said the case would be no different to medical negligence cases where the plaintiff's identity and medical details are revealed in open court.

No applications have been lodged in relation to Hunter.

Hunter spent two years on Essendon's rookie list, 2012 and 2013, without playing a senior match

Does this imply that the actual penalties will take longer to be decided? Or is it just me?

So the guilty/not guilty is on Tuesday..... then they have to decide on a penalty..... deliberate.... come back some other time to say it?

So this will probably mean if found guilty players will continue to sit out games until penalty delivered,  By which time any penalties imposed may have already been served.

I bloody hope so Ringo. But Gillon McLachlan taking a position on the outcome already doesn't bode well for the length of the bans imo.

If they are found guilty I just don't see how they can be let off lightly the coach , club and the players  have fought it and denied it the whole way , athletes all over the world will be sick in the guts and players like Saad who copped the full force for drinking the wrong sports drink and admitting it will just shake there head , the AFL will have to tread very carefully with this to avoid becoming the laughing stock of the sporting world , there 3 strikes policy is out of touch with the rest of the sporting world as it is , but that is only if they are found guilty  ::)

Ahead of Tuesday's verdict by the AFL anti-doping tribunal, Steven Dank, the architect of the Bombers' 2012 supplements program, maintains the players were given nothing wrong and said the banned drug thymosin beta 4 (TB4) was not on the World Anti-Doping Agency's list of banned drugs

Wait, he thinks that TB4 isn't/wasn't banned?
Good lord.
