Here's a thought - notices were issued to 34 past and present players - are there any past players who would potentially have been served notices who are no longer playing professionally? You could still be banned from club footy but I wonder if there's anyone who will cut a deal and implicate others because there's no real career pressure in it for them??

This could get interesting...

Yes guys like David Hille are still potentially under fire

Yeah, I've been thinking about that.

But honestly if they're not playing professionally, they're probably not going to be as fussed... they'd have to be extremely disgruntled to screw over their teammates.

Yes, but on the other hand you might feel you can finally speak up without fear of losing job....

I wonder if Port, Freo or the Dogs could sue the dons if they lose a player to suspension

AFEV

I seriously doubt an ex-player would do that.
Looking at comments in the media, and what we've seen over the course of the whole saga from ex-Essendon players - It's the guys that were players in the league that place extra importance on protecting the players, because they don't think they've done anything wrong.

Dobbing in all your closest mates isn't really protecting the players.

I would be surprised if the club was sued should those guys be banned as well.

Could be wrong on both counts.

Ricochet

well wasn't it Kyle Reimers that broke the silence last year?

AFEV

A young fella of questionable intellect who spent only  few years at the club (and was delisted) is a bit different to guys who spent over a decade there forming bonds and were heavily involved with leadership etc. off the field.

Aside from that, the things Kyle Reimers said have kind of been rendered irrelevant now, the story isn't really about the 'permission slips'.

Ricochet

Yeh but he might be the one that tries to cut a deal with ASADA

This is the thing really, surely this kind of thought is going through players minds as well... If they try and staunch up and play the wall of silence card, but just one person cracks from the current or ex player group, then the club has to entirely discredit them or risk all the other players getting longer bans...
And while I agree with Sid in saying that the guys who were there a while and established bonds with people are hardly likely to be first on the phone line to ASADA, I find it hard to believe there is no-one at all who would try to cut a deal to help themselves. Perhaps I'm too cynical.

Particularly if this is in any way true

If essendon lose against adelaide, it might be in both the clubs and players best interests to fess up (depending on what evidence they think is against them- frankly the club knows if they have or haven't done illegal performance enhancing drugs)... it means essendon probably has small chance of the 8 this year, and if the entire playing group comes forward and they get 6 month bans, they'll all be back intime for the last half of pre-season next year.

Capper

just read that, would like to know what type of medical tests they duid that were considered a breach

Vinny

Not worth a thread so I shall post it here.

Guys, what is wrong with Dustin Fletcher in the last couple weeks?

He isn't getting his 20+ touches like he has for the year.

Appreciate any comments.
