#227
No idea who to pick :(

Wanted Ray Ray.

I'll take Clyde Drexler. Team player, super athletic and underrated defensively.

PG: Magic Johnson
SG: Clyde Drexler
SF: Elgin Baylor
PF: Karl Malone
C: David Robinson

Imo benches will make it convoluted, example team A has great starting 5 and mediocre bench, team B has good starting 5 and good bench, who wins :-\

If u wanted to do another draft with the players left id be keen on that...

Master Q

I'm the last pick  :P

Dwight Howard 2008-09

DPOY, Took Orlando the finals, averaged nearly 14 rebound, 3 blocks and 20 points per game, and replicated that in the playoffs.

---

PG: Isiah Thomas
SG: Michael Jordan
SF: John Havlicek
PF: Dirk Nowitzki
C: Dwight Howard

Stoked with that team.

Thomas and Jordan can both handle the ball, drive and bring toughness to the team. Hondo Havlicek is one of the best SFs of all time, an all rounder who could perform on defence and offence. Dirk is tall for his position but stretches the floor, giving Howard lots of space to bully inside, and for Zeke, MJ and Hondo to drive.

nice pick, was wondering if he was gonna go

Love this team. And I'm not being Robinson bias.
Great offensively and some big athletic boys there that would make for some very difficult match ups.
Solid defensively too.

I would be too. Can't go wrong when you have the GOAT on your team.
You've got a great mix of offense and defense.
Dwight would make it difficult to score in the paint. Plenty of points in all areas of the court for this team.

Overall, an interesting and enjoyable draft.

Not a fan of the "season" concept when compared to other ones, makes it challenging though.

---

So are we 100% not drafting benches? Cause I wanna discuss some players that I was gonna draft  :P

have to wait for Andrew, its his concept.
if we want to draft a "bench" we could keep the same order, just draft another starting five and all the work of this draft is still relevant while creating two separate results 8)

ino we r to submit a final write up on the team weve selected ;)

Well, Magic immediately makes everyone else on the team better. Dude is undeniably the best PG or all time. Two DPOY as the big guys, so good luck scoring inside. Both no shrubs on the offensive end either, would love the delivery from Magic down the floor. Baylor can score at will. Drexler too, and both are more than capable to toss the ball around to find the open look.

Are we just doing a vote for this?

This team is built to play LeBron James' championship style basketball.

Defense: With Garnett (6-11) and Ewing (7-0) at their peak patrolling the paint, this team would be disruptive, Ewing (4.0 BPG 1.0 SPG) challenges every shot, Garnett (2.2 BPG 1.5 SPG) can guard just about anyone, he is fiercely competitive. There is length and speed at PG, SG and SF, LeBron James (6-8), Vince Carter (6-6) and Tracy McGrady (6-8) will disrupt smaller shooters rhythms and offer help defense to the talls with their block and steal numbers.
LeBron loves to play in a defense that can "fly around" creating chaos, it helps get out in transition, long arms, quick hands, leads to flashy fast breaks with McGrady and Carter filling the lanes and Garnett trailing the break.

Offense: Team FG% 50, Team FT% 77 Team 3PT% 39
LeBron James at point guard gives my team the best chance to win, LeBron will limit any of these point guards with his size and agility, offensively his height, strength, speed and athleticism will exploit them, the mismatches will command a double team or he scores at will one on one against them, he is elite at picking and choosing what the defense is giving him, he has proven himself able to make "the right play".

The trademark jump shots of Ewing and Garnett are in the 15-17 foot area, its a high percentage shot for them which makes them ideal pick'n'roll pairings for LeBron who loves to play the "two man game", it spreads the floor, the range Ewing and Garnett possess will help draw the defending 4 and 5 out of the paint, creating driving lanes and open shots for the two wings. The all round offensive game of KG in particular is a huge advantage, his shooting range will give him space to work it, Garnett is averaging 5 APG.

Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter, two of the most electric the game has ever seen in they're peaks, they are sound passers and both are averaging two triples a game, they can knock down open threes or slash, pass, create shots and finish above the rim.

In fact positions 1, 2 and 3 will get to the line at will with the size, athleticism and creativity they have, at least one of LeBron, Tracy or Vince are going to have a mismatch on the floor consistently, whoever it is will get the ball to kick start the offense in the pick'n'roll with Ewing or Garnett, drawing double teams and creating open shots or playing one on one exploiting the best defensive mismatch that will occur from it.

In Finishing:
My theory for this draft was based around my number 1 pick, it was heavily aimed at two particular objectives...

1: Was to create a team that would best suit LeBron James' championship style play both offensively and defensively, surrounding LeBron with big men that had jump shooting range to suit his "two man game" pick'n'rolls while spreading out the defense and also shot blocking was a priority, the wings had to be able to play similarly to LeBron so that the offense can also play within the same style with him off the ball spotting up and getting a look at collapsing defenders.

If the defense switches a taller/lengthy defender to LeBron, Tracy or Vince will have the mismatch and therefore get the ball to start the offense in a pick'n'roll situation with either Ewing or Garnett.
It forces the defense to pick their own poison, it offers belief to the team that they can play within the same game plan and get the highest quality shots for the team regularly.

2: Size, when we are drafting great players it is hard to split them having usually played in different eras, i wanted to gain advantages with list selection, it couldnt be purely about size, they had to fit the above criteria, i needed to have length and athleticism at 1, 2 and 3 so we could always get the defense to break down, also size defending smaller players without giving up quickness, i have tried to create as many advantages for my team as well as playing to they're strengths.
