So if I want to I can bring Rocky in this week. But should I do it? Most expensive player in the game, likely to come up against a hard tag this week, and there is a lot of other value floating around.

I'm seriously considering Barlow over Rocky, just because it saves me nearly $100k that I can use next week...

..am I crazy?

If I can afford Rocky am I stupid not to get him?

dtvillage

Exact same boat mate, but if I get Barlow I think I will lose my league game which I can't afford to do, so I am going for Rocky and putting the C on him!

Depends on how the rest of your team is sitting. If things are ok then you should bring Rocky in. LaHug has him estimated at 125...

Without seeing your team bring Rocky in.

My team:

Bartel, Swallow, McVeigh, Birchall, Mackie, KK (Bews, Aylett)
Ablett, Beams, Watson, Montagna, Ward, Wines, Cotchin, Hannebery (Hallahan, Langdon)
Sandilands, Mumford (Derickxx, Currie)
Dangerfield, Martin, Zorko, McGlynn, Darling, Walker (Ambrose, Shenton)

So I'm planning

Out
KK, Cotchin

In
Barlow/Rocky, Stefan Martin

KK to Simpson.

Second trade - Downgrade Hallahan if he is not playing, if he is then downgrade Langdon.

Generate the cash for long term gain. Don't do patch ups with Cotch at this stage of the season.

Hmm, I appreciate your advice...but I'm going to ignore it :P

I just think that Cotchin is going to loose me more money, while Langdon is going to gain me more- he's got a 64 BE and has the potential to score 80-100.

It's a question of who will score more: Cotchin & Simpson vs. Langdon & Rockliff...

My opponent has Rocky and will most likely be captaining him this week, so feel it's better to nullify that and bring him in...

jamfrank

Gahh! I just don't know now. I was set on Rockliff all week, but now I am seriously looking at Simpson in to complete my backline.

I suppose Rockliff is due for a bad performance...:P

That's cool mate and I understand what your saying, but consider this too...

Cotch has a BE of about 110. He wont lose that much cash and he can stay in your side longer with less pain.
Langdon has a BE of 64. He wont gain that much cash. He will max out very soon and needs to be upgraded.

Langdon is currently in your mid emergency so wouldn't it be Cotchin & Simpson vs. Stefan Martin & Rockliff??

In any case, I would still rather go with Cotch and Simpson over Rocky and Langdon.

I guess it all comes down to your league position. But, instead of worrying about your opponent this week, look into the future and aim to be that opponent that people worry about.

If you patch up this week, you will just continue to worry about your opponent and patch up for the rest of the season. My two cents mate and don't take it the wrong way, just trying to think long term rather than short term. Hope whatever you decide works out.

Yeah, I totally get what you're saying.

I would have used some DPP to move Langdon to the backline (effectively going KK-->Rocky), then trade Cotchin-->Stefan Martin and move Shenton into the mids.

Anyhoo, I'm coming round to your way of thinking. By doing the trade you suggest, it does move closer to finishing my team as opposed to being in the same position I was but with Rocky instead of Cotchin.

Thanks very much!

Agree with Dave, get your team filled asap then start the sideways stuff with Prems to gain the best possible team. 8 rnd's to go before finals including this one so you want to be full of prems as quick as possible so you have a few weeks to sort under performing Prems before finals.

and I personally think that Cotchin's due for a big one, being against a North side that are giving up reasonable scores to mids
at worst, I think he'll lose 10k
