I think it might also be trying to take into consideration fans and work etc.

Like, if people are starting work early monday morning, they're going to be less likely to go to a game that'll finish at like 10pm.

Fun story- it takes about 40 minutes for me to get from olympic park to my place... last night the game finished at 10, but because I followed my roommate onto a train when we were interchanging at another station, we ended up on the wrong train and doubled back 15 minutes, and had to wait another 10 minutes for another train.

So I ended up getting home at midnight :(

Because that way when the footy finishes at 6pm they hope viewers leave it on 7 to watch their News. That's why 7 cut off the footy coverage so quickly after the game (often missing the team song) so that people haven't got time to think about switching off the news.

It's all about their ratings.

Yeah but we should still get an afternoon game. Usually there's like a 1:40 game, a 3:30, and a 4:40 or something. Now they've essentially scrapped the 1:40 game for a night game
