With Trent West injuring his knee, anyone going to jump on Martin. Has a very handy FWD/RUCK DPP and only just over $200k. Looking like a pretty decent downgrade option...

Might not get a run as per the Brissie page (FF), Archie could be the surprise package. Thursday teams we await you.

Yeah, I saw that. But you think they'd go with Martin seeing as he has far more experience and maturity. Hopefully Martin can be named and play the No. 1 ruck role, as opening up a DPP link in my forward line would be extremely handy, allowing me to go Derickxx to a forward at some point in the near future.

When a team takes a player from Melbourne, they then realise how bad Melbourne was that these "gun" for the Dee's ain't no gun in any other teams.  Ala Cale Morton, Colin Sylvia, Stefan Martin and I'm sure there are more just can't think of them at this point.

Martin is probably the obvious in, but tbh, I would rather see Archie or Sammy Michael get a run. Dont think either of them could quite last a whole game though. I think that Martin and Michael rotating through the backs or possibly the forwards is the best option.

He has been named in the "Best Players" list for his two appearances in the Reserves. Kicked 2 goals last week and 1 goal the week before.

I agree that a lot of ex-Melbourne players turn up to their new clubs under done, but Martin has been on the Lion's list for 2 years now, has gotten over his latest injury and appears to be in some semi-decent form in the ressies. If he's named, I'm jumping on.

Lol how are any of those 3 players you mentioned "guns". I never rated Martin, had 1 decent season but hardly a gun, average  player who doesn't do enough. I never saw much of Morton, think he was a high draft pick and certainly didnt do enough to justify that, but would certainly not class him as a 'gun'. Sylvia I think is supremely talented, but never worked hard enough on a consistent basis to be called a 'gun' I would have thought.
Sure all 3 were established in Melbourne's 22, but definitely wouldn't call them guns...

Dt wise I'm talkng, all three of those guys named have racked up reasonable averages for the Dees over their time with them.
Cale averaged high 80's in back to back seasons, we all know Sylvias resume, and Martin averaged 75-85 over a two year period.  Ok, not guns, but DT relelvent I guess.  My main point is once they leave melbourne they are no longer DT relevent because they can't cut it in the new side.

Haven't really seen Martin ruck in a while - not big enough is he?

Brent Moloney and Brock McLean?

I'll be tempted for sure, Thursday teams determine everything really.

They've been a bit better than the others, but they still never solidified themselves in the best 22 when they were consistent for the Dee's.  I rest my case.  ;)
