Surely his contract/insurance would cover dental? Or will they sting him because he wasn't wearing the mouth guard?

The best dental insurance available in Australia wouldn't cover more than a couple of grand, but his contract might have something in it about the club covering any medical expenses

Well I hope the poor bloke doesn't get stuck with the 70k bill... As one of the other boys said. He might get a holiday to India. A friend got 4 of his front teeth done there. Cost like 13k for the whole trip including like 3-4 weeks stay. But surely something dental wise would be in his contract...

Mouthguards dont alway help either. I got a hockey ball in the mouth about 8 years ago and broke a top tooth in half even with a mouth guard in. The ball also pushed my bottom teeth through the skin under my lip. 10 stitches and a pretty good scar

Cost me about $2k all up to fix as well

The force of a Hockey ball can be a lot greater and can do a lot more damage to the teeth than a bump can in most circumstances.

9 times out of 10 a mouth guard would've saved his teeth in that situation

yeah but it got him flush as was lucky not to put his bottom teeth through his lip as well

I'm sure the club will cover it for him.

That being said, anyone who plays without a mouthguard after that seb tape incident a couple of years back, unless they have a really good reason, is a flowering idiot.

I have a mate who played footy for 10 years, never wore a mouth guard, then when the tape thing happened, went out and brought a mouthguard the next day.

To clear things up, Yeo had been wearing a mouthguard all quarter but after a long spell in the midfield he was absolutely knackered and was gasping for air. He took his mouthguard out of his mouth to get some air back into his lungs with like 10 seconds left on the clock.

Nek minnint, ball comes his way, he drops the mark and BAM.

Shoulda held the mark and none of this would have happened ;)

As for the bill, club will definitely cover it.
