Mailman the 2nd

I seem to remember pretty much everyone tipping pretty early that Wingard would head to Port. Lots of draftees were pretty hesitant about going to GWS, I remember Coniglio in particular said that he wasn't going to go to GWS willingly

I actually like Wingard a lot more for this. A lot of young guys wouldn't have the guts, attitude or mindset to do what he did.

Just knew he was good enough to get picked up at a place he wanted to go. Not many people get that luxury. Good on him for it i spose!

Pretty close to Draft manipulation really

Yeah... pretty wrong imo.

Don't know why people would laud him for this.. What an arrogant little turd ::)
18 year old kid lucky to be given the opportunity of a lifetime and a chance at an AFL club that thousands of kids would give their life to do no matter what corner of the country it took them to and here he is telling clubs where he will and won't play. White Goodman  ::)

Wingard is the loneliest player on the field after he's kicked a goal, rarely does he get any sugar from team mates for his effort. No surprise that he was taken down a peg in his first pre season and had a cry. Port faithful do not like show boaters.

He will not be a one club player, the creed will dictate that.

Honestly (As we South Aussies are  :P ) I am over happy he didn't go there, they pocketed too many picks and we all know my thoughts on their recruiting strategy. Serves them right, onya Chad ;D

Onya tbags :) As for Teejay - just go out more and smell the roses ::). You come across as a very lonely and spiteful individual. But I guess if that makes you happy, no drama

I laud him for his upfront attitude. Rarely would you get a young player who tells it as it is. Usually, in this situation, you have players lying about their willingness to play for a club (away from home).

Wingard was upfront, which ensured that GWS did not waste their pick on a sure thing to go home.

Look at all the kids Brisbane have drafted over the last couple of seasons that walked out on the club due to the homesickness factor.

That's what I said to Grazz today, as much as it might not be the way to go about things, at least GWS picked the next guy they wanted, rather than losing Wingard in two years time, and starting the process again

Unfortunately for Brisbane, some players just wan't out. It will happen to all clubs, not just the Lions. Agree with ya mate

Toga

Interesting situation and I don't know whether to say good on him or not :P

I guess he knew he held all the cards though with GWS having the first 5 picks.
