Who are the best and worst in the business? Not of all time but just this season.

Now let's get this clear before we all have our dig.

Commentators- blokes that call the game play by play
Special comments and boundary riders- the blokes that add their "expertise" on match ups, game plans, players etc.

Give us your best and worst of each.
For me..

Best commentator- Hamish McLachlan. Doesn't talk shower just calls the game as it is without using repetitive phrases or trying to make a moment bigger than it is all the time.
A special mention to Cometti, although I'm growing tired of hearing him say "takes something off the kick".. It's just a bloody short kick Dennis.. He's not talking to it in the air and taking something off it.

Worst commentator- Dwayne Russell. Cannot stand this bloke! The phrases "oh baby that was good!" And "that was crazy good" are 2 of the most over used phrases from this big headed knob. Does too much barracking and not enough mutual calling of the game. Just shut up Dwayne.
A special mention to Bruce. Used to be my favourite but now I'm over him. His sexually fuelled comments towards some players is unbearable. Not to mention the way he drags out words.. "Jimmyyyyyyy little kickkkkk to stevieeeee jayyyy. Just retire Bruce.

Best special comments- Cameron Ling. Understands the game and doesn't over analyse things. Gets a bit biased with Geelong players but aside from that is the best in the business.

Worst special comments- Dermot Brereton. Absolute crap talker. Makes up so much rubbish and over analyses every tiny thing. Thinks he is an expert and a comedian but is none of the above.
Special mention to Luke Darcy. So full of himself and loves himself way too much.

Best commentator-Huddo when he goes off!!
Worst commentator-The Bristle, still cant get anyones name correct. And can someone tell channel 7 its not a competition to see who can come up with the best line of the line
Best special comments-Agree with Lingy
Worst special comments-The King, doesnt even look like he wants to be there at any game

Very very hard to split Dennis Cometti, Bruce McAvaney, Gerrard Whateley and Drew Morphett

Worst: Easy, Kim Dillon, just far too high pitched and have to turn over to the ABC commentary, which is annoying as I like Rowey during Crows games

Best Commentator: Dennis Cometti- simply the best their is, best their was and the best their ever will be.

Worst: BT- too much of a drama queen- Darce should replace him as play-by-play commentator (one of the better radio play-by-play commentator) with Hamish McLachlan - let Richo and Lingy to special comments.

Best special comments: Lingy is a gun, David King also is very good with the technical parts of the game as well.

Worst: Dermott - only talks about himself and Maclure- negative grumpy old prick- just shut up mate, no-one cares about Carlton.

Special comment about Luke Darcy- He is an excellent play-by-play commentator on radio on Triple M on Friday nights but as special comments commentator on 7 he is a flog.

Dwayne Russell is the worst. bar none. he is the worst in history. have I listened to every commentator in history? no I haven't.  THAT'S HOW BAD DWAYNE IS. AND IT'S LIKE HE DOES EVERY flowerING GAME IN THE ROUND. SO BAD IS HIS ANNOYING VOICE. HIS FACE PISSES ME OFF. HIS COMMENTARY STYLE ANNOYS THE shower OUT OF ME. how does this moron keep getting work? there is no other answer to this question, the only answer is Dwayne flowering Russell.

Lingy's the best at special comments

can't really think of the worst at special comments. but as you said quinny, Dermie just loves himself so much that I can't really take anything he says seriously

I actually like David King he really has a great analytic mind and knows his stuff.

Brian Taylor, Matthew Richardson and Luke Darcy are just a comedy trio and barely relate to the actual game at all. Like a couple weeks ago Darcy and BT were just arguing over the number 3 jumper and its past players for the best part of a quarter. Sometimes its good to listen to them but for god sakes if you are going to commentate don't be bias.

Cant stand Roo or Barry Hall at all sometimes you can barely understand what they are saying.

Dermie can flower off.

I actually like Dwayne Russell. His tone of voice keeps the game interesting.

All the former channel 10 commentators (Husdons, Walls etc.) were really good at keeping the game interesting while adding valuable information.

Dennis and Bruce have lost touch and don't really engage with anything new

Forgot to have a dig at Roo. Has his voice not broken yet or what? Feel like I'm listening to a 13 year old just hitting puberty the amount of times his voice cracks and squeaks during a game
