It's one thing doing the act, but not accepting the punishment?

Reckon if he escapes gaol time, he'll be at another club next year

Either that or in Jail.

Seriously though why do players not make decisions on their own. As I understand it his manager was urging him to appeal and if that is the case very poor form from a manager as the suspension had nothing to do with the charges but more against breaking club propotocols and imo with 3 protocols broken lucky to only get 5 weeks and $5k.

Grazz

Agree Ringo, club needs to take a tough stance as they have a lot of kids on their list. They need to take a strong stance on protocol etc to send a clear message to everyone. Poor form from the manager and player appealing this, way to screw up your career.

5 weeks is far too excessive for drinking while injured and failing to notify the club. It would usually be 1-2 weeks.
If it has nothing to do with the criminal charges...

Nige

The feeling I have that Toby Greene won't be a Giant in 2015 is slowly getting stronger.

Failing to tell the club you committed a crime whilst drunk (when he shouldnt be drinking) should not be 1-2 weeks. He is a very lucky man

While Greene probably has a small case to argue that 5 weeks is too much, it just makes him look irresponsible that he'd even challenge his own club after doing all this :/

Future at GWS for him is definitely cloudy

"Club's leadership group including Ward had a major say in the length ban."  ::)

Fairly certain Swan only got 1 week for drinking while injured. Not saying what he did was ok but if they are not taking into account his criminal charges until he is officially found guilty then 5 weeks is over the top

not notifying the club should be extra weeks on top of that, but like it should probably be a 3-4 week ban tops. That being said, there's not much point in challenging it if you're currently injured, unless he/ his manager believes that by challenging it, that it makes him look less guilty.

Personally, I think some of that ban is coming from the criminal charges as well, and he's well in his rights to challenge it.

BREAKING NEWS: Caro says the Toby Greene situation has been resolved and WILL NOT go to appeal. The suspension will stick. #AFL

Until I see something from the giants, I'm not going to believe anything :P

Capper

I dont trust anything Caro says. I think the 5 weeks includes 2-3 weeks that he will be out with injury, hence the lengthy ban
