Salem, a worthy pick?

So at the moment I'm looking to downgrade Higgins to a midfielder via Taylor. I was looking at Salem at not as much as a cash cow like Acres or Hartung, but more as a genuine back up throughout the year. Roos looks like he is slowly bleeding him in, much the same way as JKH and is surely going to be stringing a few games together pretty soon with how good hes looked when hes been on. I just want to know what are everyones thoughts on him?

Salem as genuine back up is too pricey for me when Taylor has just as good JS and valuable DPP

I plan on keeping Taylor at M9/10 all year, so if a mid does go down for a week I can swing in Danger and bring a rookie fwd onto ground.

That flexibility will be very handy in the 2nd part of the season when people start running low on trades

Thinking similarly, would like to see him shake the vest but he's pretty pricey for someone who is a vest candidate yet to have his bye... Pass for now I think as my midfield will be pretty complete with Acres and Hallahan on the bench in a few weeks, there won't be a lot of value in downgrading one of them to Salem.

This is a very nice strategy to have, and definitely would have Taylor over Salem any day!

Salem has been averaging 32 of about 30 minutes of football.  Scoring wise, he would be a good pick up if he can get full matches.  If he doesn't get the vest this week worth a look.  If he does get the green vest again then hold off until after the bye as chances are his price will drop again unless the Dees get an early injury.

Not for me so long as there are cheaper rookie options. Need as much money as I can from downgrades

Yeah I don't think I'll be getting rid of Taylor by any means, I meant downgrading Higgins to Salem and pocketing all that cash as well as a M9/M10 position. Acres looked good but as I don't have too many trades left, I don't want to be stuck with someone like him or Hartung who don't have solid JS just to get an extra 50k or so.

I would much rather Acres than Salem, 50k cheaper and I don't think his JS is bad at all, from what others have said in the acres thread he got vested to rest him, no reason he wont be picked this week. If someone was going to have a vest I would rater it be the red than the green, as they get more game time and quite often the green vester comes in when the game is basically decided, which is crap for SC points. I will be grabbing Acres to be my M9/10 personally.

Yeah I guess that makes sense, maybe I could leave Salem for now and see what happens this week in terms of selections.

Haha can see a lot of coaches frantically getting him out of there teams after last night  :P

Mark

Yeah he has left my team....

Ive replaced him with Vandenberg and put Lambert into forward line

Salem will prove to make cash and bump his average over the course of the year. But there's too many better picks for close to half the price, in Lambert, Steele, Krakeour...

Yes but Salem will play round 1. The three you mentioned are unlikely to play round 1 at this stage. Maybe one of them will play if you're lucky.

Agree, a few rookies there that aren't eligible unless upgraded. Most likely you start guys like Salem and Clark and downgrade to guys like Lambert and Steele who will likely have to prove themselves in the 2s before getting a gig.
