These bye rounds are ridiculous especially for us fantasy football people I don't know why the AFL just does not run with 2 split rounds , at the moment with this bye setup it takes 3 weeks for all teams to complete 2 rounds a split round will takes 2 weeks to complete 1 round so as I see it both take that extra week am I wrong ? would like to hear what other people think as this would also stop the cheats that run with 2 or more teams that eliminate us honest folk from any chance of winning weekly highest score during the byes ??

just give everyone a week off the same week

The AFL won't do that KB , to not have any footy on a weekend during the season it's all about the $$$

Toga

What an underwhelming round of footy :(

Would be perfect to bring back State of Origin for though. I would love to see it brought back.

State of origin won't work during the season the old problem of the best players being risked the clubs will not do it the only way is 2 split rounds

Later in the season for the second bye they have 5 games one week and 4 games the other. Everyone gets a rest in only a two week period with a round split over 2 weeks instead of 3 over 2.

If they are doing that later in the season, why aren't they doing it now as well? Is so much easier and makes a lot more sense.

teams in the finals would benefit more with a later bye

I agree, a split round is much better than the three bye rounds. Not sure why there're not doing that atm.

Well JR it is a bit of a mystery how they come up with this bye setup maybe 2 split rounds is just a bit to easy , no more best 18 on field and no more people setting up teams to try and win the cash in the bye rounds but will the AFL change I doubt it

Yeah either way its 2 games played over 3 weeks but over 3 weeks means that there are 6 games played each weekend rather than 4 or 5.

exactly. I think the week off is perfect. there's no advantage to any team as they all have the same week off, and might even refresh the viewers also.

I guess this just makes too much sense to actually come to fruition though. the AFL are greedy cows.

Yeah but then the 3rd week in byes ahs 6, as opposed to 3rd week if you had a split round having the full 9 games. Either way you get 18 games across 3 weeks
