brad gave up his SC team least week and has asked me to help take control of his side. The side is well positioned in terms of league wins with a record of 5-0 and a soft run of match-ups. 20 trades left, $205,200 in cash.

Trades before receiving the side

Round 3
Clurey>Georgiou
JKH>Taylor

Round 4
Thurlow>Currie
Michie>Kelly

Round 5
Caddy>Fasolo
Leuenberger>Jacobs

Round 6
Langdon>Cutler
Tyson>JPK

That left 22 trades and about 20k in cash to work with

I then made these two trades to cut dead weight/generate some cash to work with

Round 7
X. Ellis>Gardiner (using Hanley)
Rohan>Z. Merrett

The team currently looks like this

I will update this initial post with trades and progress each week

Only 14 or so players for round 11 so whoever comes in for Mitchell should be round 9 bye - ? Burgoyne, Birchall or Bob or Hurn.

I think McDonald could go. Cash cow in Hallahan might be worth picking up. Gets a game this week and makes money for the team.

I would start saving trades if you can though at 5 - 0.

Mat0369

So with moves I have to make, I am thinking at least a double downgrade, I am contemplating

McDonald>Hartung/Acres/O'Rourke
Dunstan>Hartung/Acres/O'Rourke

Newton is the other name that stands out for Port but I am thinking he is perfect in round 13 as he will be on the bubble for Aish so I can upgrade Kelly

Doing the double downgrade gives me 500k to play with for my upgrades. Looking at the best 22 as it stands before making any trades

Simpson, Swallow, Mitchell, Hanley, Suckling, Cutler Bench: Georgiou, Gardiner
Ablett, Pendles, Beams, Murphy, JPK, Polec, Aish, Dunstan Bench: McDonald, Kelly
Sandilands, Jacobs Bench: Currie, Nankervis
Dangefield, Martin, Spuddy, Higgins, Fas, Taylor Bench: Impey, Merrett

So with Mitchell's injury he has to be traded out and I am assuming the same has to be done with Fas. Counting the guys in an ideal world I need to upgrade, D5, D6, M6, M7, M8, F4, F5, F6 which is a total of 8, 9 including Mitchell's injury. I think with a total of 20 trades I am going to have to hold onto guys like Suckling as my D5/6. Ideally if I had luxury trades I would piss Buddy and Martin out of the sides but being short on trades I will have to stick with them

Assuming the guys I have in my side that played or are expected back get games, I can keep Mitchell a week. I have 6 defenders even though 3 of them are not very good as they are expecting Hanley back, 6 mids which makes it a total of 12, 1 ruck, 5 forward if Spuddy comes up giving me 18. McDonald is gone, the 3 guys I am looking at are listed below to maximize my cash generation, Dunstan is the other one I am looking to ship off as well. I am hoping to bring Hurn in after his bye when his B/E is low. With such low trades and not a hell of a lot in cash generating rookies in the back half I need to wait until he hits rock bottom so I can bring him in. Harry Taylor is the other one I want to look at over the next couple of weeks, so I can either swap Mitchell to someone like McVeigh/Hibberd/Malceski/Birchall/Bob or downgrade him to Hurn in 2 weeks and then bring in a cheaper guy like Taylor for Cutler

Certainly hold Martin for now.

Hartung's JS worries me. Hallahan seems a better pick.

Acres' bye is a worry looking at that line up.

Acres' bye is a worry looking at that line up.

Being short on cash I can't afford to trade Martin

With Acres I am losing Dunstan and then Aish will get dumped out round 10 (Newton or premo) leaving Acres and JPK as my only mids out for that week. My back half is screwed that round on the other hand which makes me think Mitchell has to go for a round 8 or 9 guy. With Hallahan/Hartung, if Hartung can maybe play 4 or so games in a row I will take it, he will become mid 10 after the byes and that should help me out

tor01doc

If Dunstan plays this week, you'd hold him?

Mat0369

Bleeding cash. Since I need to make quite a few upgrades I need to try and make as much cash as possible in those situations. As long as I can field 18 this week Dunstan is expendable and in terms of a cash perspective this week is the best to trade him out. If I can pump up my cash to 500k, that allows me to make 2 midfield upgrades, 1 forward upgrade and maybe a back option as well, if Dunstan loses say 40k this week that is one potential mid upgrade down the drain. Being 5-0 I can afford to take a hit over the byes to try and get as much cash into the bank as possible for upgrades.

tor01doc

Sounds a good plan.

Acres is a worry though because he isn't quite on the bubble and that can go pear shaped.

Hallahan - if selected this Friday and not sub will be my target. I'll get Acres on the bubble later.

Mat0369

O'Rourke worries me more then Acres. He has a bye the following week and was subbed out on the weekend. When you see a guy like Dylan Shiel is running around in the 2's I worry he will get dropped. From what I have seen, Saints have a few injury issues and Acres has had form in the VFL. I am interested to see the Hawks side this weekend as well, I think once the teams come out it will make more sense.

I have got a watch list of guys to bring in pending prices and form

Guys like Boyd and Joey I have no chance as they are way too pricey but the guys that look underpriced and could hit some form

Hurn
Watson
NRoo
Jack
Roughy
Griffen
Wingard
Jack Steven
Shannon Hurn

Parker is a bit pricey at the moment but he looks a good get as well

Broadbent and Hansen could be good cheaper options as a bit of a POD. Broadbent has averaged 91.2 if you take out his round 1 score he started as the sub, Hansen has a good finals run and if he plays loose man the rest of the season like he did at the back end of 2013 he could average 95+

Cloke and Petrie are both horribly out of form but if they are the best I can afford with their high ceilings they might be the way to go, but for my forward line I think I am going to hitch myself to the Tex Walker wagon and have him as my F6.

Mat0369

I am going to go to the drawing board tonight, I am working until 6.30 tomorrow night so will likely be home by 7.15 which will cut it tight. I am curious to see the Sunday teams before making a couple of decisions.

I think O'Rourke is going to get dropped looking at those sides. Ambrose adds something into the equation but I don't think I can trust him. I could swing Taylor into the mids and keep Impey but it doesn't really seem like there is any point although an Impey downgrade could be the option since he has such a high B/E (although I am stuck with 4 round 10 forwards). Mitchell in the side makes me think that Impey will get a full game, but Freo are tough and I can't see him scoring more then 40

I'll sleep on it, but basically what I think the toss up moves are as any of these three combos allows me to field 18

Dunstan>Acres
McDonald>Hartung/Hallihan
Impey>Ambrose

or

Dunstan>Acres
McDonald>Ambrose via Taylor
Mitchell>Round 12 premo

or

Dunstan>Acres
McDonald>Hallihan/Hartung
Mitchell>Round 12 premo

Lloyd is the other one at the Swans but his JS is questionable and I would prefer Hallihan since he is cheaper. I think you are right Doc that if Hallihan is not the sub he is the one to go with out of those two, but if Hartung and Hallihan both manage to escape kermit that throws in a bit of a twist.

Vinny

It really depends on your league opponent Mat, does he have 18? Unless you are aiming for overall?

I like the third option.

Don't trust Ambrose and reckon he will become dead weight soon.

Mat0369

I liked option 3 as well. Pity I just got home from work.......

Mat0369

So I am having to work a bit on the fly, I am thinking this

McDonald>Acres is done

I am thinking Dunstan>Ambrose using Taylor into the mids and then hold the other trade or I can do this instead

Impey>Ambrose
Dunstan to premo mid
