I could really use some advice - forward carnage!

So with teams being named I've got a bit of carnage happening, and am rather lost as to my best option.
Essentially, Ambrose isn't back, Lloyd is likely to be cut, and I have Buddy. That means a donut in forwards.
I'm ranked 696 and have been making a bit of traction in recent weeks so don't want to lose ground.

B: Mitchell, Simpson, Swallow, Suckling, Grimes, McDonald (Landford, Georgiou)
C: Ablett, Beams, Pendles, Murphy, Rockliff, Polec, Dunstan, Tyson (Langdon, Taylor)
R: Sandi, McEvoy (Currie, Thurlow)
F: Zorko, Danger, Martin, Higgins, Franklin, JKH (Lloyd, Ambrose)

Cash: $249,700

My BYE structure:
Round 8: 19 playing
Round 9: 20
Round 10: 17

With trades I'll easily cover round 10, so no big issue there.

FIRST TRADE: Dunstan -> Hallahan is probably an obvious option, but Hallahan's JS scares me. I know in fantasy this is probably the most popular trade this round, but is it a good idea for RDT?

Next I need to cover that forward donut. Given Taylor in my mids, I can trade out Lloyd for a mid, and switch Taylor into forwards. I can also straight upgrade Lloyd to a premo (mid or forward) but that leaves me with little cash for byes. My other option is to side-ways Franklin - but I believe he's only out this week and so seems a waste. If I was going to side-ways I'd probably get Parker to preserve a similar bye and tbh I think he's the best option anyway. The thing is, both of these seem like rather wasteful trades..... which leaves me confused with my plan of attack.

What do you think? Any help appreciated!!

I'm not sure a round 8 bye player is a good option to bring in this week, it's why I'm also holding off on getting in Swan.

timmyparso

you already have 19 playing for round 8. You need to think long term with your team too and not get so focused on the byes.

I guess you need to size up your round 8 opponent to see what you can get away with in terms of trades this week but regardless of who you trade in they will all have a bye in the next 4 rounds anyway

pommyadam

depends

personally, I'd do Ambrose->Hallahan (via Taylor DPP) and set Lloyd playing with taylor E
then I'd put the cash into Dunstan, bringing in someone like Montags/Barlow

OR
you could do Ambrose->Wingard (or Nroo) and then Dunstan->Hallahan (should be possible I think given your cash reserve) - allowing you to keep Buddy on the bench as FWD cover (and basically completing that line)

Cheers fellas for the help so far.

@Timmy: Yeah I've not paid them too much attention until now tbh. I've just read a lot of opinions on Swan being a no-no this week (so same applies to other round 8 players?). 19 is what I want to aim for, for most rounds anyway. Leaves a little safety net for all the unexpected outs we'll surely get over the next 3 weeks. Like I said, I'm ranked 696, so not out of the overall prize yet (plus our league has $$$ for highest points total anyway).

@Pommy: Are you suggesting Ambrose as you don't think he'll be getting any games? He's emergency this week, and just a game off of a price rise. I think Lloyd's JS is just as shaky TBH, so am thinking at least I gain some cash there?

Here's what I've got so far:
Dunstan -> Hallahan
Lloyd -> Anyone I want, I'm thinking Wingard at a nice price. Parker, Gunston, and Dahlhaus are all under consideration too so I'll have to think that over. Nroo is on the radar BUT he plays the Hawks who are one of his worst teams this week, so I'm thinking there's a few price drops to come. So, I'll wait to go Higgins -> Nroo after round 10.

I could also do your first option Pommy. I'd probably go Ebert Or Stants though. That leave with me with only 40k though which is a bit short for byes I feel.

pommyadam

yeah, I just said Ambrose because he's not playing, and is probably relying on an injury to get games (with Belly returning soon, is more and more unlikely imo) - NOT a guy in the know by any means though... I'm just giving a viewpoint

but considering he'll be an F8 anyway, then I guess it doesn't matter too much (Ambrose will gain around 50-70k on his next game), so maybe Lloyd instead?

I have the same problem too, with franklin, ambrose and Lloyd all maybe out. i Was think about switching L Taylor to the forwards but i am worried that he could be the sub for the lions and bring in Hallahan as a npr (makes 100k in 2 weeks before his bye). Looks like ur fwd line could use a rd 9 bye player in ur team.

Alka

and in a shock twist Lloyd makes the cut.

Looks like he stays in the team for a week.
