I can see Reece McKenzie being just as good if not better then McCartin anyway.

::)

McKenzie will be a slow useless spud. He couldn't get a kick against the better backmen. He only beat up on kids that he had 4 inches and 20kgs on.
Useless? If he was useless he wouldn't be going to an AFL club would he?

Why on earth didn't St Kilda trade pick 1 for 4 & 7? Dumbest move I can recall, particularly when Peter Wright has just as much chance of succeeding as McCartin.
because that wasn't the deal. the deal was 4 & 7 for 1 & 21
still a tempting deal though
not for me.
plenty of quality options at 4 and 7..you would easily land Wright and maybe a good mid option...remember Jack Watts at pick one? nothing is a certainty! that's why I like the draft

Jack Watts was a mistake.

we are in desperate need for a quality mid, and a quality forward (multiples in both areas), but if we traded for 4 & 7 the best we could have hoped for was Wright. now I know he plays both forward and ruck in under 18s, but is there any guarantee he could play forward in the AFL? I'm sure I've read he has been labelled as slow (understandable) so there is every chance he won't make it as a forward in the AFL
which leaves him as a ruck, and we've got rucks coming out if our ass

I think the only way we would've done the trade is if we were assured Paddy would be there and that's highly unlikely

Hickey or Longer would then become a forward. And we know Hickey can do it EXTREMELY well. He killed GWS and he was injured for most of that game.

very true...quite the pickle.

however they would not get what they wanted for 21

Toga

Geez this draft just keeps getting more and more interesting! Personally think the Saints would be crazy to pass up on Tracca but McCartin will be a very solid player as well.

Pkbaldy

Screw it.... Might as well get Caleb Daniel @ Pick 1. I'd be happy with that.

Mr.Craig

Since we don't have much idea I put the names into Random.Org to see what came out. Kept Moore and Heeney in their proper spots.

1. McCartin
2. Petracca
3. Garlett
4. Laverde
5. Ahern
6. Marchbank
7. Langford
8. Lamb
9. Moore
10. Brayshaw
11. Durdin
12. Wright
13. Menadue
14. Cockatoo
15. Duggan
16. De Goey
17. Goddard
18. Henney
19. Ellis

Peter Wright runs a 3sec/20m sprint, he's quick for his size. He's also a deadly kick, one of the best talls I've seen since Brad Ottens debuted. He hasn't even had a decent preseason, sky's the limit from my perspective. Paddy is a good type but a Jack Darling is the best that could be hoped for, would you trade that pick for Darling? Two players in the top 10 generally trumps 1, I can just about guarantee you won't be getting the best payer in the draft, and that the best will probably emerge from elsewhere in the top 10. 4 & 7 are prime picks, I don't think St Kilda are playing the odds here.
