The 2014 U18/Draft Thread

Clem Smith ran a horrible beep test so I'm predicting a significant slide. Garlett isn't as quick as I anticipated, as a result I reckon Menadue is a much better option. Marc Pittonet simply won't cut the mustard at AFL level, no athletic qualities unfortunately. Both Bampton & Weller didn't show up, I'm actually wondering if GC are doing their best to hide Weller from prying eyes, I smell a rat.

What did Smith run?

11.12 and was in the bottom 20% for the repeat sprints, he has a mountain of work to get match fit. I'm tipping 3rd round - rookie territory.

Update: Suffering from a back injury, will probably squeeze back into the 2 round as a result.

Just had a quick look at the National Carnival stats and you have to admit that upon reflection Petracca really is head and shoulders above others.. Led VIC Metro in disposals nearly every single game (bar one) and his TAC year was unbelievable - Althougn his Combine wasn't great his National Carnival stats are crazy, and I'll list them here.

Game 1 - 27 disposals, 2 goals, 7 marks, 4 tackles, 7 clearances, 9 contested, 18 uncontested, 4 inside 50's, 85% efficiency
Game 2 - 31 disposals, 7 marks, 3 tackles, 4 clearances, 11 contested, 21 uncontested, 6 inside 50's, 65% efficiency
Game 3 - 26 disposals, 5 marks, 6 tackles, 7 clearances, 8 contested, 17 uncontested, 6 inside 50's, 58% efficiency
Game 4 - 24 disposals, 1 goal, 2 marks, 5 tackles, 3 clearances, 11 contested, 14 uncontested, 2 inside 50's, 71% efficiency
Game 5 - 17 disposals, 6 marks (4 contested), 4 clearances, 10 contested, 6 uncontested, 4 inside 50's, 60% efficiency

And his averages for the TAC cup were consistent - 25 disposals, 2 goals, 5 marks, 4 tackles per game
And in the year where he was underage and prominently a HFF he kicked 41.35 in 17 games which is astounding..

Undoubtedly has to be number one.. Few doubters from his combine but that's against the best of the best and his other feats are crazy.. Captain of Eatern Ranges also, so has potential there also - Saints would be crazy to trade elsewhere, he's a deadset gun.

Very nice man, in a lot of cases the guys that do well in the combine are specialists in the specific area: endurance, vertical etc. which many don't realize. Petrecca really looks like the full package, gonna be a gun!

He's just going to be amazing. So mixed on about if St Kilda should trade pick 1 or just secure this bloke. If we get him we won't have to worry about our midfield for years to come! I just don't want this kid to be wasted at GWS... Like so many have already.

overall efficiency of 68.3% isn't too bad, for an inside mid for instance it's about the ball park :P

Heeney - 32 touches at 72%, 18 touches at 71%, 21 at 71% in Div 2 - didn't gather that many touches against easier competition.
Bradshaw - 32 touches at 63%, 15 touches at 67%, 25 touches at 68%, 23 touches at 74%, 13 touches at 46%

Undoubtedly the two other best mids in the draft.. Are they also overrated hacks? Especially Brayshaw.. 46%?

Pendles is at 75% man. 2nd best of the Top 20 players by average disposals. Only beaten by Watson 76.4 but Jobe played less games. He was the best last season with 77.
