First rd of the byes is out of the way and I managed to score 1804 with exactly 18 players available, meaning I had to cop Robbo's 12 and Impey's 42, but considering that I am very happy as I moved up to 1004 overall now (Damn, so close to cracking the Top 1k !)

I only did 2 trades which is pleasing, especially considering 1 of them was forced - Mitchell to McVeigh

Entering rd9 2 trades I have locked are Buckley to Acres and Polec to Watson

Not sure if I will use a 3rd trade just yet. Hampson needs to be upgraded but might wait another week there to see how Goldy goes this week, then get either Goldy, Minno or even Mummy next week

Higgins can be easily upgrade too but again I might hold out on that a bit longer too

Wow, team is looking really good mate! I've turned Hampson into Goldy myself, think Goldy will smash West this week and might even go up in price.

I am happy to give Hampson a run this week, and keep until Maric returns, because that also gives me a bit more time just to see how Goldy is going because last week was the first time he tonned up all year (101) so he needs to show more for me to pick him, so at this stage I have Minson ahead of him so I can make that call in 2 weeks time

Langford to Hurn is on my radar for sure. I would love Bartel to be my last def, but it would cost me another trade to generate the extra cash so Hurn looks too good to pass on, but again I will look at upgrading Langford after rd10

I have done Buckley to Acres and Polec to Watson this week and have 60k left over. Next week I am doing Robertson to Hartung and Tyson to Jelwood, so I have 1 spare trade this week, and 1 next week, and they are the two trades I need to figure out what to do with

I'm thinking next week Hampson to Minson might be the go, so this week I think my best option is to punt a rd10 rookie to generate a bit of extra cash plus get a r10 out of my team as I have too much, so Georgiou stands out as being the one to go, but with Tippett the only option (Aylett is rd10) it just seems like a dicey trade

Any suggestions would be appreciated :)

So I scored 2035 in rd9 and dropped 16 spots in overall from 1004 to 1020 lol

16 trades and 25k left

Trades I am thinking of doing this week, which I would love some opinions or other suggestions on:

Higgins to Cameron
Hampson to Minson
Georgiou to Jaensch

Leaves me with $1900 so I can just squeeze those trades in, then next week Langford to Bews to generate cash, and possibly Buckley/Lloyd to Shenton

Since Taylor still has some cash to make I wouldn't trade him out yet to Hartung/Cameron. I think Higgins>Cameron is a good move to generate cash. Higgins has been decent but you do need to generate some cash somewhere. Hammer has to go, I would prefer the cheaper Big Boy/Goldstein options to Minno. IF you go Godlstein/Big Boy you could probably afford Hurn instead of Jaensch, they all have their own risks. The only downfall I see in these trades is that you have to take whatever Impey scores in your 18.

Either way I am fielding Impey this round and only have 18, so I know this round wont be good for me, but I am in a good position league wise so I just have to cop it on the chin because long term I want to keep Tyson a bit longer, and the only other rd10 players I have that can be traded out are Taylor who will be my M9 all year due to his JS and DPP, Cutler who I think should be a reliable D7 JS wise and Acres who I just bought in so that leaves Georgiou as the one to go

Minno is 501k, McEvoy 498k and Goldy 470k

I could get Goldy and Hurn, or Minno and Jaensch. At this stage I am going with the latter purely because Minno is scoring better than Goldy and Jaensch/Hurn is very close but Hurn's body always worries me as he does seem to get injured often

OK so the way I see it, I have two options this week. One involves keeping Tyson and fielding 18 players, and the other involves trading Tyson, and having 19 players this week

Option 1 (18 playing)

Higgins - Cameron
Hampson - Minson
Georgiou - Jaensch

Option 2 (19 playing)

Higgins - Cameron
Tyson - Dal Santo
Cutler - Hurn/Jaensch

Option 1 completes my rucks, gets rid of Georgiou and keeps Tyson. Option 2 doesn't complete my rucks and keeps Georgiou, but it gives me an extra player this week, still completes my def line like Option 1 does but gives me a 7th premo mid in Dal

I have only 16 playing so far this week without trades

I think the positives you stated about option 1 - keeping Tyson, getting rid of Georgiou, finishing Rucks - pretty much sums up the way you should go

It would be nice to have 19 but we have all got to look at the bigger picture

I agree felsty, and my first thought was always Option 1, and I believe that the first thought is usually the right thought

Short term pain for long term gain - just hope I don't get smashed too bad this round!

So I have decided to take a different path with trades now that teams have been announced

Next week I really want to do Higgins to Shenton and Buckley to Jobe, so that is locked in for next week, meaning that this week is

Georgiou to Bews
Lloyd to Cameron
Hampson to Mummy

Hopefully there is no more surprises and I can actually follow this through

its good that youre able to keep tyson!

would love your thoughts on bews. I have jumped on this week as well at the expense of Robertson, but am really unsure about his JS etc. do you see him playing many games, or just a way to get rid of the Georgiou deadwood?
