Another year and another opportunity to raise some funds for a cause close to my heart. This time, I Give Up so that those fighting the battle against cancer, both presently and in future, don't have to.

In 2005, my dad passed away after a two year battle with cancer and, only a month later, my grandpa also lost his battle. In 2006, I did the World's Greatest Shave and raised approximately $1300. More recently, over the past two and a half years, I've been raising money for the Cancer Council. Over that time, mainly due to my 100 Things for 100 Days challenge, I've managed to raise $5776.55 for a great cause. Because I raised over $5000, I was able to have a research grant named in my dad's name. THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH.

This time around, I have taken inspiration from the 40 Hour Famine and my own 100 Things for 100 Days to create a new challenge. I will give up one thing a day for every donation of $10 or more. Put your thinking caps on and get inspired! It could be anything from food to television to driving to Facebook. Whatever you think I should give up for a whole day, I will! Obviously, I will be putting into place some restrictions (no oxygen for a day is not going to happen) so that I am not put in danger and my studies/job are not severely affected. Other than that though, anything goes! You can pick the day (so that you can put no drinking on a party day) but I will have the final say (to avoid something like no eating on a day where I have sport).

For those wondering what happened with the 100 Things for 100 Days challenge, I almost finished but a few tasks ended up being impossible. If I didn't do your task and I haven't talked to you about changing it, please let me know. There is always the chance that I simply forgot. A few remaining tasks will be completed eventually (I promise).

Any questions?

FAQs
Q. What's to say you won't wear yourself out and fail to finish this like the 100 Things task?
A. Unlike 100 Things in 100 Days, the 24 hour time limit is actually a good thing. I can't possibly run out of time to finish a task because running out of time means I finished. Should be fine :)
Q. If I donate more than $10, can I nominate multiple things for you to give up?
A. Only under special circumstances. How much you donate is entirely up to you (the more the better, obviously). I set the $10 cap to avoid people donating $1 or 5 cents and saying that I have to do something ridiculous because of it. If, however, you are particularly generous, I will consider multiple things (if they're not ridiculous).
Q. If I donate more than $10, can I nominate one thing for multiple days?
A. Similarly to above, particularly generous donations can and will be discussed. It's up to you how generous you want to be though so please give what you can.
Q. Will you be giving up multiple things in a single day?
A. No. I hope for this to last quite a while so that I can raise a lot of awareness and a lot of money so I want individual things for individual days.

Hmmm have a couple of ideas, some you might not like and no its not giving up oxygen!!

Are you left or right handed??

ps You are a great man for doing this and your old man and grandpa would be very proud of you and no doubt the rest of your family and friends are, including everyone here on FF

Yeah. The phone I have right now is awful for selfies but need to just bite the bullet and take some shockers!

I am contemplating that you are not allowed to use your right hand/arm and put it in a sling for a day. That way you will at least get some sympathy from people. You can choose the day so it doesnt affect for uni work

Other ideas im thinking about are

  • no shirts for a day (you can wear singlets and jumpers though
  • no socks for a day
  • no laughing for a day
  • Saturday 31st May, you cant support the Tigers and must support Essendon

That is the worst thing I've ever heard.

i thought so. Thought of looking at Richmonds draw and your having to support another team for the day and thought the idea of you supporting the Bombers was great.

Will make my mind up soon

Did you ever complete the task I set you from last time?

Yeah but couldn't take photos or do video because of the water involved. (Yours was the dives/bombs, yes?)

CrowsFan

Ah good job :)

If I had more than $11 in my bank account at the moment I would donate, but alas I don't :(

No stress. This was more targeted at those on here that are comfortable money-wise either because they're employed or they're that rare breed of student that knows how to effectively save money.

Cheers for the general support :)

I really wish I was able to fit either of the above, but I don't. :(

since Scrads took the Tigers idea i will go with that you arent allowed to use your right arm/hand to do anything and put it in a sling for a day. That way you will at least get some sympathy from people. You can choose the day so it doesnt affect for uni work

Even after seeing someone else do the "tape up your right hand" idea?

Cool cool.
