PORT ADELAIDE
Star trio Chad Wingard, Jay Schulz and Jackson Trengove have all been cleared of injury to face Geelong, while Angus Monfries is also a chance, having recovered quickly from a strained hamstring. Selection isn't getting any easier for Ken Hinkley, with an impressive win for the senior side over West Coast followed by a one-sided win for the Magpies in the SANFL. Kane Mitchell was prolific in the 58-point victory (35 touches, 1.4), as was Ben Newton (33 disposals, 14 clearances), while Paul Stewart showed great form (21 disposals, 15 marks, 3.3) and Jake Neade also managed three goals.

what's the story with this kid killed it on the weekend

Newton is one of my favourite players and when giving a chance will impress, Last week he also dominated with 31 possessions and 2 goals. He was our best player in the twos in the second half of last year but he just can't break into our side the only reason for that is if you were to bring him in who would come out.

We are building up quite an impressive group now with a plethora of midfielders and defenders pushing on the door for selection every week.

Only change i see being made this week is Sam Gray out for Angus Monfries.

Young wasn't overly impressive as the sub on the weekend collecting 6 disposals going at 50% disposal efficiency in just over 20minutes of play so he might also be on the way out. I would love to see Newton debut.

Yeah he's been in the system a while, drafted back in 2010 at pick 35. Has had constant injury issues during his time so far, but has started to show some impressive form and consistency from the back end of last year and the start of now. Should debut at some point during the season, just not sure when.

I was PM'd about a year ago, ( sorry can't remember who  :() ) about Ben, but think he's travelling in the right direction, and reckon he's part of our evolution going forward. It's just when it eventuates is the  question, because at the moment the team travelling reasonably well makes it hard for him

Didn't have his best game on the weekend while both Hitchcock and Neade impressed in the twos, Since we are going to be mainly using him as a lockdown defender i don't think either of them damage his chances for the time being, but wouldn't expect too many changes to the side especially coming against Geelong where his pace would be needed.

Another huge game from Newton on the weekend. Kicked 3 goals from 31 possessions.
