The thing that turns me off Riewoldt is his performance in the second half of last year. I had him in after Round 10 and he proved pretty frustrating because he had something like seven consecutive games of not tonning up and he only did it four times between Round 8 and and 23. Might take a little longer to get over my anger.

I would think long term and not just one round - I would take Riewoldt now and build around him - must have the best in your team to succeed

N Roo is far too expensive right now to consider bringing in. You would just be chasing points. He has scored well so far because the Saints have had an easy draw (haven't played a single team that played finals last year). His scores will start to drop when the Saints play genuine finals contenders and his price will drop as well.

I would save the 100k and bring in Gunston. He plays for one of the top 2 teams in the comp so will see plenty of the ball week in week out, he takes marks, he kicks straight and he isn't a stay at home forward so is able to get possesions on a wing and in defence.

I reckon both N Roo and Gusnton will average around the 100 mark by the end of the year.

Riewoldt is a gun against any opposition. He averaged 111 against top 8 teams last year.

I still think you will be able to pick him up cheaper at some stage, his record against Brisbane isn't that flash either with recent scores of 71, 92 & 86. His 7 match average is 98.

Im tipping he is going to tear Brissie a new one but thats irrelevant, I would pick him for the season not 1 game.

No doubt would be able to get him in cheaper at some stage but that could be weeks away. Why not get him now why I have the chance

There's the opportunity cost of spending an extra 150k when that money could be used to bring in a fallen premo midfielder. Joel Selwood could drop to 580k in the coming weeks, that's what's at stake here, Polec to Selwood in round 9. Buy low, sell high, one can't forget these important principles.

Ill still be getting selwood in round 9 dont worry about that :P
As someone explained though there are a hell of a lot of midfielders around the same mark but when it comes to the forward line Nroo is a street ahead of anyone. Massive bonus having a consistent scoring player scoring midfield scores in your forward line

I would leave him for later, don't forget the Saints have had a relatively easy run from here. And granted, Riewoldt plays well against anyone but he still needs some decent supply to keep pumping out these scores. I also want him but will only look for clear value at this stage, trades are too important to go spending excessive amounts on a fully valued player.

Yeah I can understand your point of view Bully. Who would you go for? Hard to find another forward that im convinced on

I'm assuming you have Danger & Martin, so Pavlich would represent great value, he also has a low BE. If you have him then a steady as you go type like Parker wouldn't be a bad option, he's a bit like Enright in that he won't put up earth shattering scores but will be a reliable anchor most weeks. The other option would be to perhaps bring in a guy like Fasolo, free up some cash and then pick off the best midfielders over the coming weeks. Cotchin, Swan, Griffen & Selwood should be on everyone's radar, they're certainly on mine and I will be doing my utmost to bring in at least 2 of these guys. I think with so much uncertainty in the forward line it may even pay to use this as your money making tool, there will be plenty of fallen premos just waiting to be picked up on the cheap, Petrie is one who will surely hit his straps. I'll be keeping close tabs on him as round 9 rolls around.

Haha I have most of those. Current forward line is
Danger, Martin, Pav, Buddy, Fasolo, Taylor (Impey, JKH)

Dont mind Parker, he's actually an old school friend of my fiances but he seems like the kind of guy thats gonna score 90 every week which would annoy me haha. Robbie Gray is probably my favourite at this stage if not Nroo

Gray's a decent option, as is Dahlhaus. Maybe after that you could use one of these mids as a swingman to cover for injury.

Alright I've crunched the numbers and I'm going with Gray!
Allows me to get Watson or Griffen next week then Hibberd down back the week after.

Good choice in the end, NRoo was due for a shocker.
