Mailman the 2nd

Next 3 games vs. Geelong, Port and GC are the crucial ones. Ideally if we can win at least 2 out of those 3 we'll be in a solid position.

I think they're all very winnable and I actually think the toughest one will be against Gold Coast. With Port and the Cats you know you're in for a 4 quarter slog but the Suns have had very unpredictable quarters where they've scored 7-8 goals straight and just buried teams.

Hopefully the break keeps all in good stead

Looking at the table all 3 games could go either way.

It is an interesting couple of weeks for the top 4

R10
Port v Hawks (Hawks with a lot of injuries and no roughie, Port are flying....)
Cats v Roos (Cats coming off a loss in Perth, no team has won at home after playing in Perth, including the Dockers and Eagles this year SJ also missing. Roos are coming off belting the Lions)
GC v Dogs (The youth of GC should get the job done against the Dogs)
Swans Bye

R11
Swans v Cats (Will the bye disrupt the Swans momentum?, nah dont be silly. Cats will get SJ back but have travelled to PErth and Sydney over a 16 day period. Will this take a toll?)
Hawks v Giants (This is the game the HAwks need with their injury toll. The giants after firing in the first couple of rounds, have erred. Easy win for the Hawks)
Dees v Port (The dees are on the improve but should not be any hassle for Port. Dees will push them but not all the way)
Crows v GC (Game of the round IMO. Can the crows 19th man help them get over the line? A couple of weeks ago i would have said that GC would win this easily but now after seeing the 19th man work, this will be a close one)

R12
Hawks v Eagles (It a bit hard to tip against the Hawks here as you never know what Eagles teams will turn up. They look good one week and then look like they are playiong for a draft pick the next)
Suns v Swans (Tippett returns home again? I think GC will want to get Bock in to their team before this game as his experience will be required against the Swans forward line. Swans to get up though)
Cats v Carlton (Cats in a cantor, Blues dont know what they are doing atm)

Assuming we come back from the bye with the same attitude and pressure football we have been playing the last two weeks, it should be a 3-0 after these games

If Richards doesnt get a mention on the Bounce this week for the golden fist, Spud is going to hear about it!!!

Mailman the 2nd

I reckon Josh Kennedy is the 2nd best player this season by a decent margin, only one getting close to Gazza's numbers

I think Parker has to be up there in the Swans player of the year votes though, even though JPK has been on fire

NEAFL Wrap: Round 8
Player Focus:

Each week, the Sydney Swans development coaches, Josh Francou, Jared Crouch and Nick Davis will highlight the performances of some of the Swans' NEAFL players.

These players are those who contributed well on game day, made improvements or played a significant role for the Swans.

NEAFL Player of the Week - Tom Mitchell
It was a dominant performance from Tommy on the weekend. Collecting a record amount of disposals, Tom was in everything. His work in close was very good and proved to be a danger when he travelled up forward, with Tommy having five shots on goal and slotting four of them.

Key Stats: 64 disposals, 28 kicks, 36 handballs, 14 marks, five tackles, four goals

Tim Membrey
Tim has been a consistent contributor over recent weeks. His defensive pressure in the forward line has improved and as a result he is having a greater impact during games. He is finishing well with his accurate kicking being a weapon, which saw him register four straight goals on the weekend.

Key Stats: 23 disposals, 16 kicks, seven handballs, nine marks, four goals

Dean Towers
Dean was once again the travelling emergency for the seniors on Friday night and had to fly to Canberra early Saturday morning for the game. To his credit he coped with this well and played a solid game against Eastlake. His defensive pressure was good with seven tackles and also had five shots on goal.

Key Stats: 16 disposals, seven tackles, three goals

Dan Robinson
Dan spent some time forward this week and was able to help the forward line with our structure. He had a hand in setting up numerous goals and managed to score one himself. When on ball, he showed a unique ability to read the ball from the ruckman and was regularly able to use the ball to the advantage of a team mate.

Key Stats: 16 kicks, 19 handballs, 11 marks, one goal

Xavier Richards
Xavier defended well on Saturday. He had a slow start to the game where he was beaten in a couple of one-on-one contests but fought back well to nullify his opponent ensuring he had no further impact on the game.

Key Stats:  17 disposals, seven marks

QuoteThe last quarter was when the match really opened up. After kicking just ten goals in the opening three quarters, we managed to kick 13 goals in the last. From our prospective it was good to finally see the team come together and play good football.

What the scoreboard unfortunately doesn

Nothin' on Rooster?
no news atm

There are rumours that he's struggling with nerve issues in his previously broken leg. Obviously he's still playing in the NEAFL though so I wouldn't think they're overly warranted

What the scoreboard unfortunately doesn't show is how well Eastlake really took it up to us. We certainly didn't deserve to win by over 100 points
fixed

Unfortunatley for Eastlake they played against a professional team (dont have day jobs) and were in it until the Swasn kicked 13 unanswered goals in the final quarter
