((Disclaimer: I am aware there is another Cotchin thread, but it's a week old and doesn't cover his score this week))

Bit of a gem pick, only in 17% of teams and not likely to be considered this week with many after a few sluggish games.

Got him as vice, got 134, do I commit??

Must decide before next game.

If you don't have GAJ take it. If you do i'd take the punt.

Gaz last MCG games vs Melbourne have been 165 and 152.

pendles scores just as well against north.. i'd get greedy and go pendles ;)
should set a cutoff score before the game so you don't have to think about it after

Cutoff was 135. Think I'll take the 134. What's 15 points at the risk of anywhere up to 134 if Pendles gets injured. Same even with GAJ.

Cut off for me is 138 so no. :P

But for you, depends on your league opponent.

I'm in the same boat, Cotch  as vc because like you saw it as a good POD gamble. Unfortunately 134 is around that area where you are almost ready to take a punt on another captain. It does depend on your league opponent, mine has Watson as vc in to Gazza. So in my case it depends on what Watson scores. Best of luck mate, we both really needed about another 10 to 20 plus points.     ::)

I usually set my cutoff as the average of the player I would otherwise choose. Sometimes I add or subtract slightly from that average based on form/taggers etc. So GAJ vs Melbourne (pretty showerty team) I would add 10 to his average. Same with Pendles, I would add 5-10 based on his awesome history vs them.

^^

In saying that, the usual rule of thumb is 130+ for VC loophole.

Agreed with everything you said MC.

Would have used the loophole if Cotch got to 140.

Mmm if it was 135 then don't take it.. Gotta hold fast on your cutoff. I know it's 1 point but then where do you draw the line? 133? 132? The way I see it you may aswell make it 130 if you weren't comfortable leaving a 134. Be strict with your cutoff so you don't have to give it a second thought  ;)

It becomes a matter of risk. Even great players get injured or get tagged. I risk up to 134 points for a possible 15 (for a great game), up to 45 for a blinder like the other week.

Exactly what I do. The player im going C has to average more than the VC score. I will bend this about 10 either way points if the guy im going to put C (say Ablett) has either an easy opponent, like Melbourne, or a tough one, like Crowley tag.

134 is right on the borderline. Pendles has 157 and 160 last two games vs NM, but 134 in hand id probably take. You risk gaining 15 points if pendles goes 150, and losing 30-40 if he is quiet or gets injured

That's fine but I think you're missing my point.. Don't say your cutoff was 135 if it wasn't. Think about it before the game so you don't have to stress about it after.
