Simpson has averaged over 90 for the past 5 or 6 years and hardly missed a game.
^^This

Simpson is ultra-consistent and has the ability to get 120-130 scores as he did last weekend.

Hibberd would also be a solid pick. Excellent standard deviation- rarely goes below 80- has not this season.

Premo's with the round 8 bye are ok as long as it does not flower your bye structure but IMO Simpson and Hibberd will out score Jaensch and Bartel.

I started the season with Hibberd and Simpson, so it's no surprise I would recommend one of them

If your going to spend 415k on Jaensch, then surely it makes sense to spend an extra 65k and get the guy who has average 95ish for years on end and rarely ever misses a game

This.

I'm liking Hibberd. Had an outstanding year last year and looks only to be getting better.

Seems to be on the up for sure. But will he continue? Or fall back to low 90s while Simpson fires after mid season?

Hey I'm happy with low 90's. For me I'd go Hibbed and Essendon are playing a pretty fantasy game style this year and I can only see Hibberd getting better (not worse) whereas Simpson is playing for Carlton who (sorry to all Blues fans out there) are an absolute basket case this year.

That would possibly make me want Simpson more than Hibberd. Carlton have been terrible, yet Simspon is still going alright apart from that one match where his DE was way down. So if the Blues improve, which shouldn't be too hard considering where they're at, we should see Simpson's numbers going up more as well.
Whereas with Hibberd, the Bombers have been very very good this year, so they may not have as much room for improvement.

Honestly don't think you can go wrong with either one, I wouldn't mind having both in my team at the end of the year.

I'm looking a defender upgrade next week, so considering their runs into their bye rounds.
While Simpson does average 90s, I don't like the look of his upcoming opponent

2009 / 2010 / 2011 / 2012 / 2013
WB: 138 / 55 / 88 / DNP / 55
WC: 150 / 119 - 139 / 68 / 77 / 72
CO: 143 - 99 / 88 - 100 / 63 - 102 / 73 - 58 / 74 - 69
STK: 98 / 81 / 77 - 147 / 92 - 86 / 66 / 119

I might grab him after his bye, he seems to have dropped off quite a bit, scoring better in 2009/2011 and dropping off considerably. Might just make his BE this week.... (also got smashed by the Bombers when he usually goes big)

It's hard to predict Simpson's scoring now that he's playing a slightly different role to other seasons.

Pretty much all of those games would have been while he was playing a wing/midfield role, whereas now he's in more of a defender/midfield role where he accumulates a lot of the football.

Yes that is something to consider as well.

frenzy

hibberd done a hammy in the pre season and was iffy for round one. I would go with simpsons consistancy.

Judd Magic

I'll be grabbing both Simpson and Hibberd in 2 weeks time.  8)
