MITCH Hallahan has been named to make his AFL debut Geelong on Easter Monday but Norm Smith medallist Brian Lake will again have to wait another week to play his first game of 2014.

Lake has played just one VFL match since completing his three-game suspension carried over from last year's Grand Final and the club suggested he would need more match fitness before an AFL return.

Hallahan, the VFL's reigning J.J. Liston Trophy winner, was drafted at No.38 in the 2010 NAB AFL Draft and undergone a long apprenticeship with the Box Hill Hawks before finally earning his chance.

Meanwhile, Jed Anderson was withdrawn from the Hawks' extended squad after failing a fitness test on his injured shoulder on Saturday morning.

He was  replaced by mid-sized defender Jordan Kelly in the Hawks' 25-man squad.
