Is it worth going Mummy > Minson to keep my by structure intact and then Sandi > Goldy in round 10 bye thus having the best two performing rucks of last year?

Living in the past JM, I don't think Minson will replicate his form of last year, his draw will only get harder too. If your concerned about the byes (like i am) then Cox is the only alternative, and at least he hasn't missed a game for 3 years. Set & forget and enjoy the 100+ scores.

at the moment I have 16 players available for round 8 and it is starting to become a real worry.

So you have 14 rd8 players? Wow

I will have 16 if I bring in Goldy or Jacobs, Cox makes 17. It might just be enough to tip the scales in favour of Cox, but it also means I will be without a ruck in round 9.

Whaaaaat? I might be being thick but that doesn't make sense to me... You have 16 players available round 8 if you bring in sauce or Goldy for Mummy... Which means you have 17 now, or 13 players out in round 8. So don't bring in another. Cox is round 9, as is Mummy. Mummy to Cox maintains your current bye structure, though it already looks dicey!
It doesn't matter if you're without a ruck in round 9, you just need 18. Where they are on the park is irrelevant...

I don't think you've read it correctly GCSk,

If he has 16 players from teams with the round 8 bye - and that is quite likely - he has only 14 to chose from.

And remember they have to be ON field to score.

Mids will be problematic for most teams as Ablett, Beams, Pendles, Selwood, Cotchin, Crouch etc are common picks.

If he's getting a donut in rucks, you can add a few more and wooshka - round gone.

Get on a round 9 or 10 bye guy IMO.

Take away round 1 where Minson was up against the 3 prong West Coast ruck combo Minson then went on to score two tons and an 87.

Not too bad and Goldstein has been travelling similar.

Both will greatly improve as the season goes on I reckon.

Not sure how much you can look into this but SCPaige posted this earlier today

The news might be better for GWS Ruckman Shane Mumford who may only miss one game with the Giants enjoying a nine day break

They have the same bye so no advantage there, Cox is also 40k cheaper, something which could make a big difference when the upgrades begin. Naitanui also looks a long way off competing in the ruck so I think Cox's scores will benefit. Minson is good for a 100 avg but bear in mind he has only once clocked the ton average, Cox has done it his whole career.

The big fella only have fluid drained out of his knee i recon he may be a sneaky chance to play this week,
if no this week next week i only traded him in friday and cause i was playing saturday didnt see he pulled out :(

May only be a week so if you have back-up then hold, I don't have anything now Currie is on the outer.

Yeah but that's what I meant, Cox is round 9 so bring in Cox rather than Sauce or Goldy who are both round 8... if he's already loaded with round 8 players the last thing you want to do is trade Mummy (9) to anyone with an 8... If adding Cox means he cops a round 9 ruck donut, it doesn't matter because there should be 14 round 8 bye players back in... If you've got 14 out in round 8 I'm gonna go ahead and assume that rounds 9 and 10 are not gonna be a worry...
Get some Cox in your squad!

Get some Cox in your squad!

I can field a full team in round 9, especially with 3 trades and tons of rookies, so yes, the big concern in round 8.

What makes everyone think that Cox will score any better than Minson all year though?

Cox's socres haven't really been that impressive either.

And its not like NicNat is going to miss the whole season or anything.

He has years of great scores to back him up. Number 1 proven ruck

True but he's getting on in years and hasn't really been that great this year by his standards.

Too early to write him off, two tons indicates he hasn't completely lost it, it would be a brave man to predict an average under 105 IMO, and given he'll play every match (touch wood) he's exactly what you need in your ruck division.

For those considering Goldy, this from the AFL website -

"Daniel Currie is also a good chance to renew his ruck partnership with Todd Goldstein against the Pies"
