"The Lions top the injury ladder with an average of 703 games' experience missing each week, explaining some of the brutal losses coach Justin Leppitsch has endured in his first season.

Important players Daniel Rich, Matthew Leuenberger, Pearce Hanley and Tom Rockliff have all missed games at stages, with the total of 67 games missed for the team ranked No.3 across the League."

Whilst not an excuse for our position it is a strong contributing factor.

Is Brownie regretting playing on?? He doesnt look like he is enjoying it much

Ringo

Think Brownie is still carrying an injury - Would have been rested against Roos if gastro did not intervene.

Brownie is still double tagged most games and his pace off the mark has dropped making it easier for opponents to spoil.

I know what you're getting at, but surely somebody like him wouldn't regret anything.

its not so much the regret but the feeling that you are letting your side down as you cant perform to the best of your ability due to an ailing body

Nup, the Lions need someone to kick at. If Browny wasn't there, the Lions would literally be the Demons from the first 4 or so rounds before Dawes returned.

yeah true but Brownie is struggling to move

Brent Staker interviewed on Local News tonight and said he has started running and looking forward to getting back into team in 4/6 weeks.

Leppa said would be great to have another experienced tall forawrd helping Brown out.

great to see for Stakes given his injury run.

Not unexpectedly West has gone for the season with an ACL.

I raise the question here is whether the hard centre square at the Gabba is having an effect on these joints over a period of time.

Look who we have had injured over the years with this type of injury Charmo, McDonald, Keating, Berger and now West all suffering LTI's and all leg related.

As Leppa said in his press conference if I was a ruckman being drafted would think about coming to Brisbane.

Time for the AFL to flex its muscle and try and force the issue of a drop in pitch at the Gabba. After all the Cricket ground Trust would get more revenue from the AFL over the season than Cricket revenue.

This is the same problem that the SCG had. It is a cricket ground first then an AFL ground. but yes needs to have drop in pitches, no one will want to play up there

Mmmm, I doubt it'd impact ACL injuries, they're not really impact injuries. Might increase the risk of things like foot fractures though.

Got tangled with warnock, anyones knee would of gone at any ground.

Ringo

My curiosity is aroused by the number of Ruck injuries we have had and whether the hardness has weakened tissues around joints that allows the injuries to develop more tan normal.

My euros team had Hickey and Nicholls go down within a week of eachother... pretty sure it wasn't because of my team's home ground :P

I'm being flippant. Honestly, Leuenberger's meniscus could possibly be because of that (that being said, I would assume trainers would take that risk into account, and not necessarily have him doing his ruck drills on the pitch unless  in match simulation), but I really doubt it could have influenced any acl injuries.
