Wingard will NOT be playing in Round 4 against Brisbane after injuring his ankle last weekend.

REIGNING Port Adelaide best and fairest Chad Wingard will miss Saturday's clash against the Brisbane Lions with an ankle injury.

Wingard was hurt in last Sunday's loss to North Melbourne, but despite him arriving in Adelaide that night on crutches, captain Travis Boak said the club was hopeful he would recover before the weekend.

But assistant coach Josh Carr said on Wednesday that the club's "no-risk" policy on injured players meant Wingard would watch on from the sidelines.
