Training just started for @Fremantle_FC and surprisingly Garrick Ibbotson is warming up with the main group. Club says he'll miss 2-4wks.

Interesting ???

Doesn't seem unusual to me.  He will still be able to run etc, as long as it isn't impact on his shoulder.

Apparently Walters may miss the rest of the season with his ankle injury :-[

Worse case scenario is all-season - they wont know more til next week when they have further scans.  First they have to wait for the swelling to go down.

The nervous wait on Michael Walters will continue into Wednesday, but there's good news on the horizon for other key players on the injury list.

Sports science manager Jason Weber said in the HBF Injury Update that Walters wouldn't know if he'd require surgery until Wednesday.

"Michael's having a surgical review in Melbourne tomorrow," he said.

"We all hope for the best but we acknowledge that it's a pretty significant injury and surgery may be required."

Walters injury could be season ending

The good news for Freo was injured stars Chris Mayne (ankle), Garrick Ibbotson (shoulder) and David Mundy are all listed as tests for this week's game against Sydney at the SCG.

"Chris has trained strongly this (Tuesday) morning, he's got up and going and passed a few tests that he needed to," Weber said.

"We're looking forward to getting him into training later in the week and hopefully into match committee."

Ibbotson had been listed to miss as many as six weeks on the club's injury list, but he's made a quick recovery.

"Not dissimilar to Chris Mayne, Garrick passed the test that he needed to and he trained very strongly on Tuesday morning, contact and the like," Weber said.

Mundy was subbed out of Sunday's game against Essednon after copping some friendly fire from Luke McPharlin.

But Weber was confident the brilliant midfielder would be right to take on the Swans.

"Dave's progressed well and he'll be training later in the week," he said.

Fremantle forward Michael Walters is to have surgery on his injured left ankle.

The 23 year old dislocated the tendon in his ankle during Fremantles round three loss to Hawthorn at the MCG.

Scans of the injury were reviewed last week by a Melbourne specialist, who advised the clubs medical staff to wait a further week to 10 days to allow the significant swelling in Walters
