O'Brien must be near but as an inside mid there is really stiff competition and unfortunately he is caught in that log jam. Reddan, Robertson, Moloney, Beams and O'Brien 5 into 2 is hard. Expect to see Beams in this weeks NEAFL team to regain match fitness as he is back to full training.

Southport defeated Lions 12.11 (83) to 7.9 (50)

Zac O'Brien continues his impressive form and must be really crying out to be elevated from Rookie list as we place Rich on the LTI List.

Beams made a successful return from injury and was amongst Lions best.

Harwood also pushing hard for recall.

Will post stats when available.

Agree TABS but hoping he gets another 2 games in reserves and comes in after bye.  Would not be ideal promoting and then havin a bye whereas he can play another 2 NEFL games and gain fitness.

Stats from last weeks NEAFL v Southport

Beams stats are encouraging for first week back but O'Brien really putting the pressure on for a rookie upgrade.

GoLions

Harwood to replace Goose this week? Think he may be a better option, and can always bring Merrett down back if we need another big defender

CrowsFan

God what does Harwood have to do to get his spot back in the team?? Rargh!!!

Ringo

Would have thought Harwood would have been promoted as Golby has had chances and not taken them.

Nige

My man Jordon Bourke looks to have had another good game, hope we get to see him soon!

Bit like Missy Higgins, you almost feel like the injury is inevitable.

Ringo

To complete our horror weekend the Lions coped a mauling from the thunder in Darwin.
19.14.128 to 8.12.60

http://www.lions.com.au/news/2014-05-17/thunder-trounce-neafl-lions

"The NEAFL Lions shaky title defence has continued following a 68-point thumping from ladder leaders the NT Thunder. The typical humid and greasy Darwin conditions wreaked havoc with the Lions ball control, and ill-discipline in the back half resulted in the Thunder kicking plenty of goals from turnovers and poor checking."

Stats will be posted when available.

Finally back home and now bale to update NEAFL stats for Round 8

Zac O'Brien continues to push for elevation and was the shining light in a disappointing game against ladder leaders

Reserves returned to the winning list with a 61 point victory over the Suns.

Great to see the efforts of Cutler and Robbo after being dropped.

Full stats will be posted on Wednesday when NEAFL updates.
