" HIGHLY-touted youngster Marcus Bontempelli is edging closer to making his debut for the Western Bulldogs, with coach Brendan McCartney confident he will slip seamlessly into the side."

Can't wait to see this prospect in action,

Nige

Was a bit of a surprise when the Dogs decided to take him so early, but he's a gun and should be a great player for them.

Didn't expect him to play so soon either. Gonna be interesting to see how he goes.

LF

Would have been nice if he played in a few more weeks
But good luck to him

Doggoneit

looks like a few more weeks yet

priced at $202k so would need to be good to be worth bringing in.

Cannot believe the Dogs let Aish go past but meh

It's a National Comp so would rather the Lions do well ;D

Doggoneit

most of the top 10 will be good pick ups

guess Macca was looking for a taller mid who can play multi positions to complement Macrae, Stringer, Hunter, Hrovat, Smith etc.

Bontempelli was just a better fit going forward

Fair comment, but ....

The Shag, Scharenburg was also there so  ???

Aish is a player you simply do NOT LET GET PAST YOU

Doggoneit

guess that's one croweater sticking up for another one

Toga

I'm also a little bit surprised that Aish was able to slip down so far but hey we'll give both young lads a chance to prove themselves before we make judgements!

Doggoneit

So we get to see him in action on Sunday - hoping Gia is sub again and he gets a full run.

Bontempelli > Any other of this years draftees.

This guy is going to be the next Scott Pendlebury. Moves the same already. Gun!

That goal against Melbourne is freakish and no fluke

Ringo

Interesting call Quinny has only played the 8 games compared to some of the others who have played more. At the moment I would have him on a par with Aish but may change over the next few weeks. Aish came back strongly this week after his weeks rest.
Dunstan and Josh Kelly possibly the only other draftees who may come close.

Agreed.
He's been brilliant and I think he should get close to winning the rising star, Langdon, Dunstan, Aish and KK are his only real challengers.
He's so classy and he's tall and he's been compared to Pendles already.
