Biggest let down of 2014 was starting with Dane Swan.
I didn't have him all preseason and then decided to trade him in the day before r1. Huge mistake.
He looked sluggish in R1, but watching all of the game in R2, he was played almost as a small fwd, dropped easy marks and fumbled a lot. He is just not the same player we're accustomed to, and I don't see him being a top scorer this year if his role continues.

I'll be cutting my losses and trading him to pendles this week because I can honestly see him dipping to 450k range.

What is everyone else doing with him?

gone to pendles, I didn't do any trades last week so I don't feel so bad about trading a premo so early

Yeah I reckon pendles is pretty close to a must have, so consistent. That's a sound trade. Can always get swan back for cheaper if he starts gunning it later on.

Bear in mind though that he has an ordinary record against sydney (iirc), so that score was somewhat to be expected, maybe not that low though. I still think beams and pendles will average higher than him though.

Yeah I got rid of him R1 for Pendles, not wasting money on him, may take another look when he is cheaper.

SydneyRox

So glad I chose Pendles over Swan

:P

normally I'd be a little inclined not to use up trades early on
but if you use them all up from teh start, you've got the last 8 rounds where you can't trade (you'd run out pre rd15) - or 14 because of the 3 for byes
I guess everyone had a "completed" side by that point last year, so you might as well use them up

Noz

I would actually keep him. Swan responds to criticism very well and starting of the season quite poor and the media on his back i have a feel Swan will come out this week and push a very big 130+ score.

He will bounce back.

This is what was said before his skinfold test  ;)

I've gone to SJ, I've accepted he may be traded back in in 4-5 weeks or so (for ~$500k) but I don't spend that sort of money to have a small forward around. Too much positional risk. Never expected that to be first trade of the year.

Yeah my thoughts exactly.
If he manages to turn it around then I'll get him back in after the byes. If not, then I've just saved myself cash by offloading him early.

I have Michie and McDonough in my team that obviously won't be playing. Do I trade both of them out and keep the pig or go Swan to Pendles and keep one of McDonough/Michie for this week? Strongly considering the latter...

I think I would probably do the latter. Keep Michie this week and then trade him to Buckley next week.

Unfortunately I need to trade Barlow so will have to keep the pig in the sty for now :-\

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. However, I also wanna jump on the Matt Thomas hype train before price changes. Michie to Thomas means I can play Thomas over Polec this week and grab the price change! McDonough to Ambrose is pretty much set to happen.
