Current Forward line -  Riewoldt, Dangerfield, Martin, Gunston, Wright, Hunter

Does anyone think Pav can go point or point with Gunston for the first half of the season? If so id be more inclined to go for him and use the extra cash to get Mumford for McEvoy.

Jukes

Gunston

but would have Pav over Wright too

can't afford both! i don't mind the wright pick though

fertalong

Have both, but if i could only pick one, it would be gunston.
I see him improving this year and potentially going on to avg ~100 whereas I only expect 90-95 from Pav.

Ricochet

Yeh I've gone Pavlich over Gunston

Thunderbolts

What's so good about Gunston? Is there any reason why he'll be a top scorer or is this all based off a high scoring r1 match against the Lions? I personally have seen him only as a 2nd forward pocket. Another Bruest, Walters or Garlett if you will. Yes they can go big, yes they frequently scores huge but the lack one important thing, consistency and if you're line up isn't consistent it pretty much takes you out of the contest for overall.

However, if you're going for league rather than overall, why not take the risk. Maybe Gunston proves to score highly and provides some match winning games, maybe (I still think it's unlikely) he gains consistency and your risk pays off in both league & overall and even if his scoring remains the same and lifts into the 80-85 average zone he's still valuable in terms of league.

In summary, if you're going for overall stay away from him, Pav is proven to be more consistent and generally much better. If you're only going for league why not take the punt on Gunston if you have reason to believe he'll go +100 (I highly doubt he'll average past 85 though and slightly doubt him exceeding 80). If you're going for both league and overall I think you have to give Pav the benefit of the doubt tbh if you were going for overall you're much better off picking Wright rather than Gunston.

Last year Gunston had a 103, 108 & 114 however he also scored 32, 16 (green vest though), 69, 52, 34, 55 (red vest) & 66 so be aware the position he plays isn't dt friendly and his scoring relies on how well the Hawks play (not in terms of scoring, but possession). He does score a lot of 70's, 80's & 90's but you want a +90 average from all your forwards by season's end, not 76 or 81 when not sub affected (consider Monfries, would you select him? I definitely wouldn't).

My opinion, Pav easily

^^ good read! appreciate it, made some good points

119, 77 and 111 in NAB at an average of 102 from 81% TOG, 108 per 100 minutes (Source: Fantasy Freako). Reckon he'll average low 90s for a healthy cash rise.

Don't know why not to go both though. Dusty, Roughy, Gunston, Pav, Zorko, Caddy for GOAT forward line

Nice work psk doe

haha I went similar but I focused more on midfield based forwards. I avoided Zorks because I couldn't be sure where Leppar would play him (over 20ppg difference depending on his position), Roughy a great dt pick but I've usually gone with Buddy and avoided him this year (he's a starter but I think he's like Rocky & Stants, he only appears in team where the coach has him by personal preference). I've chosen by personal preference and started Wingard (I have to acknowledge the fact he's a must riskier starter than Roughie and most people with have him listed as a potential upgrade target (that is where I've catergorised Roughie) but I'm hoping for big things from him, and it's nice to invest a lot on a player from the team you support).

I personally see Danger & Dusty as instant locks and Pav on account of the price tag (the only pure forward I have in my starting line-up). Caddy was a lock for F6, he's super cheap and watching him play the Crows secured his spot. He's already a dominate force in the Geelong midfield and I don't know why GCS would let him go. The other risk I've taken is T. Mitch (again he's in the same boat as Wingard, furthermore he is much riskier than Roughie but as long as he stay out of the forward pocket I'm expecting a 100+ weekly average).

My bench is composed of Rohan (ofcourse) & Patton (as emergency) who hopefully doesn't suffer any injuries because last year in the limited matches he had, he managed to prove that he can consistently score 60's hahaha

But there it is:
Danger, Dusty, T. Mitch, Wingard, Pavlich, Caddy, Patton & Rohan. I'm hoping to bring Luke Parker in as well & Nroo is looking better than last year haha

I've been watching the game and I've noticed Gunston plays mainly in the midfield. Is this a common occurrence or just this season or game? I've always thought of him as Breust's counterpart in the forward line but it looks as if he plays a Jordan Lewis type role without the tagging responsibilities. I'm not going to jump but bombers11 you've made me aware of a potential upgrade. If I didn't get into this discussion I wouldn't have given him any notice on the field so I'll have to thank you for that.

I still think you'll be safer picking Pav but Gunston could very well pay off. I'll be keeping an eye on him nonetheless :)

Enlightenme

Well, no mitchell, hodge or sewell may account for mid time for Gunston?

Jukes

So overall both Gunston and Pav had pretty poor weeks :/ still very confident in their success in the long run.
