If I downgrade Bennedy (who doesn't look like best 22 ATM) to JKH I can upgrade Michie to Macrae who should score a lot better and make cash.

Michie is competing for mid points with Vince,Tyson,Cross,Jones,Watts,Toumpas etc. in a team that isn't going to score well at least till they get a fwd line.

If he couldn't score against St.Kilda with Steven,Joey and Hayes is he worth having as a rookie?

If I wait a week I may have to corrective trade in the backline depending on Webster/Langford/LMac to get a Laidler/Kolo so that would be 3 trades and u only get 2.

i would say absolutely do this ... michie looks a hack to me and i am hating the fact i have him ...

but most people would be like HOLD your trades

Rusty00

It's up to you really whether you want to burn 2 trades this early.

Macrae should score more than Michie, but there is no guarantees JKH's job security will be any better than Bennedy.

I think Michie will still make some decent coin, just not as fast as Dunstan, Polec, Tyson. Not all rookies are going to pump out tons ;)

redfield

I'm saying no on a count of Macrae being unlikely to become a keeper (love the kid so I'd be happy to be proven wrong) so you'd then use another trade to upgrade him to an elite mid after the byes anyway. Hold Bennedy this week, at least until you know if he's likely to be the sub again and reassess after that.

Ricochet

No. Hold him.

1) JKH is likely to cop just as many vests as Bennedy but with Bennedy having a much greater scoring ability
2) Kolo doesn't need to be traided in until he is on the bubble which is at least 2 weeks away IF he stays in that long with Bennell and Tape to come back into the side
3) Michie will be fine. Rookies are like rollercoasters when it comes to scoring and he has great JS

Jroo

I'd probably wait until next week, unless you have other trades planned for next week.
I think Michie's scoring will improve, remember it's only his first AFL game at the Dees and his second AFL game.
I think Macrae's scoring will drop off when Griffen is back, so watch how he goes this week, with Griff in the side.

Another option is to see which back rookie I need, then trade Michie and move Langdon/LMac to mids creating a MPP link and get Kolo/Laidler/whoever in the backs.

I can't see a benefit on keeping Bennedy at this stage so could also do that trade for cash. With Blair/Fasolo/Dwyer knocking on the door and him being still a huge sub risk...

Stupid split round I didn't really want him in the first place but it was him or McDonuts who is dropped or JKH who was no certainty to get named.

I agree with ur points mostly however - JKH is 100K cheaper
and more importantly I just don't see how Michie is going to score well/make cash in that side
But yes on Kolo there is another week as he starts a week later.

Bennedy and Michie vs McRae and JHK

cant see the beneift of using two trades when points and cash generation wont be much different

Totally agree with Rico

Michie is a talent mate, he'll be fine. Jaeger started his career with a 72 against the saints in a midfield with GAJ and all those stars, then he pulled out a 117 the following week against Sydney, then back to a 40 in the 3rd week. Whitfield started his career with a 49, then a 100, then a 31. Wines went 125, 51, 121. Vlastuin went 51, 78, 105. My point is rookies are a roller coaster. Michie killed the WAFL last year and has been in the system a lot longer than some rookies. He has a developed body and can be a great scorer. He isn't worth a trade if he is still playing. Keep him mate trust me. At worst he'll sit at M8 and make you cash

SydneyRox

No trades except for LTI in Week2.

2weeks worth of information and the rnd3 team names more important than the points you may scrape together

Totally agree.

The stats from previous years show that you won't get consistency from your rookies each week. Rico has alluded to this in his posts here. Stick with the rookies this week and then make judgement calls and not burn your trades.

Were you expecting 100 every week from a rookie? 61 isn't terrible at all...

Mark

Mate I'd give him this week... As to be realistic most of us will not win overall and comp doesn't start until next week..

I'll prob be trading first thing next week also as don't think he will go big either

61 isnt terrible... unless there are other options in the price range who go back to back 100's. Hence why im holding for this week and assessing how the likes of Tyson, Cunningham etc. go this week. Would be silly to pull the trigger on this trade now for Tyson to pull out a 50 and Michie to tonne up this week  ;)
