Thoughts on Downgrading Suckling to Langford?

Backline is as follows:

J McVeigh, S Mitchell, N Malceski, S Hurn, M Suckling, L Mcdonald (Georgiou & Langdon)
I'm happy with my first 4 def.

With Langford's JS pretty good, and playing in mids (tagging or whatever),  I am seriously considering a straight swap with suckling to save $200k.
Would then have 300k in the bank to upgrade a mid rookie to Jelwood by rd 5-6. once the rookie gets to 300k.
I also think Suckling wont score as high as ppl are saying and will be managed coming off a knee reco.
Hope he proves me wrong tho!

sounds good to me! i sort of did the same thing with Webster and McDonald.
Suckling is being way overhyped, he scores well but definitely has the dud 50 game every now and again
The way I see it, any chance to make a guns and rooks line you do it, may even be a good POD not having him when Langford scores just as well or for that matter whichever back rookie. so far they have seemed to score quite well with the exception of Clurey

Hmm got me looking at it too..will consider but already have a D5 D6 rookie backline (LMac and Langdon) so probably a touch risky!

felsty

I have McDonald, Langford, Laidler (Langdon, Georgiou) as my backline
no risks, especially with KK looking like he might come in as well.. an abundance of rookies to choose from

quinny88

Isnt it funny, all pre season we were all stressing about the lack of back rookies. Now its just about the deepest line

timtim

Liking the look of this more and more

My current back line is: Smitchell, Simpson, Swallow, Webster, Langdon, Langford (Georgiou, Clurey)

M10 is McDonald

To risky to run McDonald at D4 and then use the cash in the MID - could grab Bernie Vince if I do

felsty

looks good.. also allows you to go Webster > KK if the aforementioned doesn't eventuate. talk about a tongue twister!

Free Kick

With four potential Keepers already you are certainly well placed to take the gamble.. And if it gives you a Mid Keeper, go for it.. I have Suckling at D4, so too risky for me.. Good luck with your decision 8)

Similar line to mine - McVeigh. Mitchell. Hanley. Enright. Suckling. McDonald. (Langdon. Georgiou.)
I think it's possible but I wouldn't do it if Suckling was any 'higher' than M5/M6, leaves the backline too weak IMHO.
I'm not against the idea especially if Langford averages similar to Suckling but I'm not sure what I would do with the extra money  to be honest. Being a split round I can't change my team too much.

Thought about this myself

Currently have 4 prems, Suckers at D5 then McDonald, Langford and Langdon

I could easily downgrade Suckers to Georgiou and would be confident fielding 2 of those 4 rookies every week

Hmmmmm  :-\

Do it RD and find somewhere to splash that cash!

E-Lemon_ator

Yep decision made.  Out Suckling, In Langford.
May backfire on me but isnt this game about taking the odd gamble?
If Langford plays up until the byes and averages 60-70, I will have a very nice cash cow and an extra $200k to spend.
I was planning on trading suckling anyway after the byes.  Quietly confident with my decision  :)

You've convinced me! Suckers to Georgiou and will field LMac and Langford

Now what to do with the 200k+ I have?

I could upgrade Hickey to NicNat, but I think I am happy to just stick with Hickey

Have gone this way too but also have Laidler on the ground.
Interesting would have to see your team.
Personally I have NicNat in right now to save the trade. I don't think it will take him long at all reach scoring potential.
