So I already have Impey at F8, but I need one of these 3 to fill F7. My F6 is Higgins so in an ideal world whoever I pick usually wont even be fielded for me anyway

I have had JKH locked for ages, but with the surprise inclusion of Taylor I now feel like Taylor might be a better pick

Taylor was all the hype before getting injured and to get a game without playing a NAB game tells me they rate him, so I reckon his the best pick now

I don't mind if any of these guys are sub this week, I want the one with best scoring potential and JS - I guess that's Taylor right?

I can get JKH and get Taylor in M10, but I feel as though a link between def/mid is much more important than a link between mid/fwd, so I think Taylor and F7 and McDonald at M10 makes the most sense, and next week I switch McDonald to D6 and Langdon will be my M10 moving forward

Merrett was never in contention for me, but his NAB scores were surprisingly good, and with guys like Gleeson and Ambrose also getting named I think his JS might be good too as you would think those guys would be replaced before Zac?

Would love to hear what you guys think about all this!  :)

Chuck in Patrick Ambrose in there too, 22 yo marture fwd for 102k

Mr.Craig

I've been banging on about Merrett all off season. Big fan.

Same situation, and my thoughts exactly. If Taylor doesn't have a green vest, I'll put him in for JKH. Melb's green vest surely has to be Georgiou or JKH and I reckon Gerogiou is ahead of JKH in having earned a starting spot.

Unvested I think Taylor must be the goods but equally we haven't seen him in action...

I think the DPP link depends on where you have more players, if you have heaps of M/F in your forwards then having a M/F at M10 makes a lot of sense. But if you have heaps of M/D's at the back then yes LMac at M10 probably makes the most sense. All about degrees of freedom.

Bombers are blooding heaps of the young'uns for when half the team gets banned  :-X I wouldn't put it past them to make mass changes for round 2 and I don't think you can have any more confidence picking ZMerrett just because Gleeson and Ambrose are also in. If G+A play well and ZM is shower, he'll be first to go. Not with a barge pole my friend! They're all as shaky as each other and I can see any/all of them quickly losing their spot.

Cheers Kiwi - always good to get your input :)

After looking at everything I really have three options (D6/7. M10. F7)

Option 1
D6/7 Langford Georgiou
M10 McDonald (Can switch with Langdon next week)
F7   Taylor

Option 2
D6/7 McDonald, Langford
M19  Taylor (Can switch with fwds)
F7     JKH/Merrett

Option 3
D6/7 McDonald, Langford
M10  J Hunt
F7    Taylor/JKH/Merrett

Option 3 allows me to move Hunt to D6 to get Langdons score and next week I move him to M10 and McDonald to D6, allowing me to loophole Langdon or McDonald each week, and I can potentially trade Hunt in a few weeks time to the best rookie I don't have Eg/Laidler

What do I do?

I have gone with option 1 as well

I have a sneaky suspicion that either JKH or Georgiou will be the sub.

So if it's:

JKH - then Taylor F7 - LMac M10 - Georgiou D7

Georgiou - then JKH F7 - Taylor M10 - LMac D7

Does this make sense? I think Taylor is the goods so you'll need to fit him in somewhere

The problem with that is that LMac and Taylor play before Melbourne so need to make a call earlier

LMac, Taylor and Langford are locked for me. It's Georgiou vs JKH for me, if Georgiou then option 1, if JKH then option 2. But which one? Argh!

GCSkiwi

Vests all going to plan, option 1 my friend! If JKH and Taylor are both vested and Merrett isn't then it becomes a tough call... I think I would still pick Taylor, though you have to take into account the holes Melb have up front - if JKH can come off the bench strongly he may cement himself a spot in the starting side. Not easy!

All of a sudden I am getting cold on Georgiou...

Me too but no better options I feel, my corrective trade #1 may be Georgiou to Langdon after round 2... Quite the predicament my friend, I think JKH would be slightly ahead of Georgiou to get the vest, but it's very slight. Wouldn't bet the house on it...

There's a small chance the Melb sub will be announced somewhere like twitter around 4:30... cross fingers?  ;)

RaisyDaisy

Well the more I think about it, if I go with McDonald at M10 and switch him to Langdon next week, it only means I can switch Langdon and McDonald between D6 and M10, only being able to play 1 and bench the other, and my bench would be Langford and Georgiou, but if I go with Option 2 I have McDonald at D6 and a solid bench of Langdon and Langford, and then I can switch most of my fwds with Taylor if need be, and move JKH onto field

I am now leaning towards Option 2

RaisyDaisy

Yep, going with Option 2 as I see Langford and Langdon as better bench coverage then Langford and Georgiou

If JKH is sub that will suck, but now that I have Taylor at M10 I might even choose Honeychurch over JKH that way I can swing Taylor and Honeychuch between mids and fwd so Taylor effectively becomes both my M10 and F7

Who to start on field out of McDonald and Langford? Leaning towards Langford

GCSkiwi

Can't see honeychurch in the 22, seems like a waste of a cow even if JKH gets the vest... helps if you have a player out but I think early on you count on your starters playing, no reason for resting yet! So it's only injuries which are an issue...

This early on my advice on "who do I start?" Questions is all the same - if whoever plays first has no vest, bank it, you don't know what will happen to the others. Langford named on the field but it wouldn't be the first time that a sub has been from the team named on field. If LMac is starting, put him on the field, don't take the chance - no matter ho good it looks!

sammy123

If merrit isn't sub  i will choose him. Of sun its down to jhk and taylor whoever isnt sub ;)
