So at the moment I can't decide my D2 option.

Currently my defensive line looks like the following:
Mitchell, Enright, Hurn, Swallow, McDonald, Langdon (Laidler, Langford)

If you could comment also to explain your decision that would be great.

Ricochet

Hanley's scores last year against his opening fixture

HAWKS 86
GEE 79, 42* Knocked out in the first quarter
GC 117, 141
PORT nil (113 the year before)
RICH 95
SAINTS 108
SYD 93
ESS 111
NORTH 105, 71

Jump on mate. Apart from Geelong he has been a very good scorer

Vinny

But he will get tagged more often now Ric, doesn't that worry you?

That's my concern to Vin!
You would've thought he would be second in line after Rich for the tag though

No they'll just send him through the guts or up forward like they did last year to break tags. He still scored well.

Thompson. Only needs a few disposals to ton up as he has elite disposal efficieny, he is constantly spoiling and constantly taking intercept marks.

People can be turned off because he is a lockdown defender but he is also used as a rebounding defender at times as well.

One year doesn't maketh the man. I'd pick Enright who is the epitome of consistency, his preseason also indicates he's in no mood to slow down.

thompson. lower ceiling but hanley didnt cope with the tag towards the back end of last year.

There will be a couple of guys to tag against Brissy before Hanley IMO. Rockliff, Rich. So out of those above I would go Hanley.

The other thing to consider is reliability, Enright has missed only 6 games in 8 years, and a couple of those were planned rests prior to the finals. Hanley also has an excellent record but the whole tagging issue does concern me, particularly with the horror draw that Brisbane have early in the piece. When the competition got wind of his playmaking abilities, he only managed 4 tons in 12 games, that's compared to his 5 tons in 8 games at the start of the season.

I'm currently in the same predicament. thinking of going with Thompson or Enright as they are only owned by 3.3% and 7% of teams which gives them a little bit of POD about them.

Nate93

Totally agree bully!

I'm leaning towards Enright over due to consistency and durability, will be top 10 defender and treating Hanley more of an upgrade target, after his early draw. But thinking Hibberd and Thompson are both on the improve and may push for that 100 average in the backline

Dayze

All good picks.
I agree on enright tho. SD is minimal and will b called upon to stand up early with so many Geelong mids missing.
Will start the year strong
