Last night during his regular segment with Paul Roos on AFL360 Bomber stated that "one of Gleeson, Ashby or Zac Merrett will definately be named for first game this week".  Wish I knew which one it will be.  Still, it does narrow things down a wee bit.

Pretty sure he didn't say one of them would definitely be named

Simply said they were a chance

TBH none of em for me.
Merrett will have a few people interested with his score.
but nope. not going near em.

I'm really thinking Gleeson will be a good chance,  and there are better mids. Merrett would be a huge vest candidate if named you'd imagine

To the best of my memory, and being an Essendon supporter I was pretty interested, his exact words were, "I would expect one of them to play." But, then again, coaches are coaches, and most things they say need not be taken as "gospel", but simply as possible indicators which may help in the "narrowing down" process.  Of the three, Zac Merrett's name has surfaced several times in the media over the past couple of weeks, and, from memory, he showed a couple of glimpses in one of the NAB games. So, could be a smokie.

From an Essendon supporter, don't go near em. Off the top of my head Melksham is still to come back from suspension and Winderlich will come back probably about round 4-5 if these blokes haven't been knocked out of the 22 by then.
All massive sub candidates too.

As a bomber supporter the only one with decent JS is Merrett. Ashby will go out when Dempsey comes back. Gleeson will be out when Melksham comes back from suspension.

He also ruled out upgrading Thurlow from the rookies list and expects Hibberd to play
