iirc, Blaine Gabbert got over 40 and look where he is now... A flowering spud.

Dont use Johnny Manziel and Tom Brady in the same sentence until he has 3 rings, 2 superbowl MVPs, 2 league MVPs, 9 pro-bowls, 5 conference championships, and 18 playoff game wins.

Jukes

When we trade Gabbert for a first rounder in a couple years time, you'll be saying different...

Johnny will be the second best player of all time behind Montana when he retires buddy.

Also, you forgot the asterisk next to 3 rings.

a) that wont happen
b) that wont happen
c) the only asterisk next to a SB should be the Giants when Eli put together the luckiest drive o.a.t

Did the Pats film crew get rings for their wins?

the eagles also have 3 NFL championships. Meanwhile...

From the mouth of Hollis Thomas

Quote"Sore loser?" Thomas barks angrily. "We got cheated! It's not sour grapes. We got cheated!"

Ten years later, time wounds all heels, and Thomas can't hide his disdain for Bill Belichick, the grumpy coach of the Patriots. Weekends, Thomas co-hosts a show on WIP 94.1. Mondays, he is part of the morning show.

"I don't bring it up," he explains. "But when I'm asked about that Super Bowl, I give my opinion. I played in that game and we kicked their ass in the first half, and if the game was played on the up-and-up we would have kicked their ass the whole game."

Quote"In those days," Thomas says, "the linebackers didn't have a microphone in the helmet. Our defensive signals were pretty basic and came in from the sidelines.

"New England had a guy filming those signals and then matching them up with the defensive formations on that play. Halftime, they broke it down, and in the second half, they called plays based on knowing whether we were gonna blitz or not."

Super Bowl halftimes last forever. By the time Paul McCartney warbled "Live and Let Die," Belichick could have broken the code.

"And then," Thomas says, skating onto some thin ice, "here came Spygate in 2007. He got caught filming the other team's walk-through. Most times, walk-through you're doing the plays you're gonna use in the game.

"He got fined pretty heavily. And they haven't won a Super Bowl since."

Thomas isn't the only one

More and more going against Bridgewater at the moment. Reckon the Browns at 26 might look good for him, although I've heard they're very interested in Carr, but can easily see Minnesota taking him at 8. Could even drop into the second round to the raiders/texans with a bit more bad press. Maybe the Pats will trade pick 29 to Raiders/Texans and they'll take Bridgewater there.

And on to something actually relevant, the NFL schedule is out!

Good to see Broncos with a very tough one. Travelling to New England to play the Patriots again this season 8) bring it on!

Colts have the easiest according to last years standings, that makes me happy

Meanwhile I think the Jets are creating the ULTIMATE Madden '08 team

Eagles have a tough run. NFC East meets NFC West this season.

Of those teams, not including the division games, the Jags and Titans are the two worst teams. The Texans still have the pieces of a great defense but offensive issues, the number 1 pick should help that, Rams are improving, Colts were a playoff team, Cards always give Philly trouble since the NFC Championship game (although we managed to beat them last season), the other games are just ridiculous facing last seasons 1 and 2 seed, the Pack and the 9'ers. They really can not afford to drop a divisional game if they want a shot at back to back division championships.

Anybody done a draft simulator yet? This is probably my best one yet.

Gun cornerback in the first to aid our obviously weak cornerback stocks. Probably the second best CB in the draft behind Gilbert.
We have a semi-large need at tight end to back-up Davis, wasn't planning to take a TE here (or in the first 4 rounds) but Amaro was too good to pass up, especially after my target Trent Murphy was taken the pick before.
Adams by far the best WR left, should provide a good third receiver option behind Crabtree and Boldin.
Richburg the best centre in the draft, I reckon he could go in the early second round so getting him at 77 was gold. Kilgore is ok but Richburg is going to be an all-pro centre imo.
Latimer again the best WR left, should be a good addition.
McCarron is a superstar, very happy he slipped to me at 100. Puts pressure on Kaepernick's performance and his contract (why would we pay 20 million a year when we have another gun as his back-up?).
Although our DE doesn't need urgent filling, Urban was the best player left in the draft at that point, so I snapped him up.
Aikens, Bullough, Evans and Andrews were the best CB, ILB, WR and RB left when I took them, and we need some depth there so I took them.

In real life I reckon we'll trade a lot of our draft picks, hopefully best-case scenario we can take Gilbert, Evans and McCarron out of this draft.
