After your Quick thoughts on Roughead vs Gunston avgs for the year,

Will having no Buddy effect one more than the other??
Ive had Roughie set in my forward line all along but now im questioning whether there output will be much different and if not would it be worth pocketing the extra $70,000ish??

Current Fwds: Dangerfield, Martin, Roughead/Gunston, Caddy, Higgins, B Kennedy (JKH, Impey)

yeah another tough one. Deciding on Gunston I think. Rough will probably drop but he will be a top 10 fwd..Still think Gunston is going to truly breakout. Huge finals series last year too.

I would go with Roughy. Proven scorer and Gunston will now be getting the next best defender. I do think Gunston will still have a good year but score wise go with Roughy.

If Roughy is the new Buddy in terms of high HF pushing up the ground I would say him. Both could be in for good years IMO.

Why is everyone adamant that Gunston receives the next best defender? It leaves a gaping hole in the defence especially when Hale/Mcevoy and in particular Hale spends a majority of the game deep forward. They can't leave a 200cm giant on the third defender, he would get smashed. And most of the time most teams only really have 2 defenders for the big forwards and the rest play rebounding or lock down roles. We saw in the practice match the other day that Gunston can still ton up yet only kicked one goal. Add 2-3 goals to that and he could be scoring 120-130+ and really become a consistent performer which he has been in the past but 10-15 ppg more. I honestly believe Gunston will become a top 10 forward.

Roughie

When Franklin is playing: Average of 99 from 44 games

When Franklin isn't playing: Average of 110 from 9 games

If you want to set and forget then Roughy. To say he will go down in the absence of Buddy is selling him a bit short considering Buddy wasn't exactly there last year anyway :P

The Hawks have a well rounded and potent forward line with plenty of service. So if you want value, and think Gunston represents an opportunity for a Top 10 finish, then you could do worse.

Personally I'm backing Roughy to keep his Top10 spot and re-join the 100+ club.

Might be wise to check out the teams that Rough played against while Franklin was out. Fairly certain there were some cellar-dwellers when Buddy was given a rest. In saying that, I still think Roughie will be a better choice than Gunston, pricey though.

I have said this on numerous occasions and no one seems to believe me! I'd love to pick my boy but i have the cash to splash for F3 so can get my other Boy Roughy. Surely Gunston wont top Roughy this year...? Certainly will bridge the gap in price difference but IMO

Roughy- 102
Gunston 97

Which puts me on the fence for whether i should pay that extra 80k odd to get Roughy?

cortez

I'm taking Roughy knowing he Will average around 100. Don't have to think about it and weather he wI'll breakout or not.

Yes, Roughie, Gunston will be attracting much more serious attention this year.
