Backs: J Bartel, S Mitchell, N Malceski, J Webster, L McDonald, J Laidler, (M Fuller, A Georgiou)

Midfield: G Ablett (c), S Johsnon (vc), T Rockliff, T Liberatore, T Cotchin, B Vince, V Michie, J Polec, (H Cunningham, M Crouch)

Rucks: W Minson, A Sandilands, (D Currie, F Thurlow)

Forwards: P Dangerfield, C Wingard, M Wright, J Caddy, J Kennedy-Harris, J Impey, (Z Merrett, M Honeychurch)

Cash Left: $11,100

Reason for Picking certain players:

Bernie Vince - many coaches will invest in Dayne Beams, whereas, Bernie Vince in a struggling team like Melbourne, will rack up huge numbers and clearances, which is supercoach GOLD right!? his preseason has said a lot, and he saves me almost 80k, but will still rake in Beams like numbers almost every week. He'll have his BEST Supercoach season yet.

Jimmy Webster - he has had a steller preseason with an average of around 90 SC points, his kicking efficiency + rebound 50's is what got me, kicking straight and hitting targets like Webster does, is Music to Supercoachers ears. for example, he racked up 11 possession in one of his two preseason games for a SC score of about 95! and he is going to get a lot more game time according to the coach.

BACKS - No to Bartel. Laidler 50/50. Will play but how much? Looks risky with Webster, Mac and Laidler. What happens if they all flop? Fuller is a ghost. Georgiou upgraded yet?

MIDS - SJ, haven't seen him in any teams on this forum. Don't mind it but not sure I'm game enough to pick him just in the mids. Misses games annoyingly too. Gun though, back your man. Vince? don't mind him, could avg 100 but is he a keeper? I see Beams as a keeper more.. POD is handy. Cotch is fine, no injury concerns.

RUCKS - Pretty solid. Willy is expensive but I'd back him to be in the top 3 rucks. Currie will get games.

FWDS - Hmm, not sure what's going on here. Wingard pricey, more attention and don't think he is terribly consistent. POD though. Wright is a tough pick. Has his admirers but he's not a keeper. Won't go through the season and avg 95+ I don't think. Awkward price. Looks pretty thin and could trouble if a few fail. Rookies may not play, especially H/Curch..

overall I think you may need to drop a premo or Vince to a Tyson/Aish and upgrade in the fwds

Like - Bartel and Stevie J - unique and are proven scorers

Dont like - 3 playing rookies down back - Laidler is no certainty to play or stay in the team if he does get called up - Fuller wont play and there aren't many cheap backs who will - I'd rather see Suckers, Webster, McDonald as D4-6

good luck

Backs: Better options than bartel this year. Goergiou still on rookie list for the moment.  Keep him if he gets upgraded.  Replace Fuller and Laidler imo. Webster is a solid pick for mine, think he will have a great year and will def get games.

Mids: I like it, very unique.  Unsure about SJ & Vince, good uniques and def proven scorers, but a def risk to have both.

Rucks: Fairly solid, have to wait and see which (if any) rookie rucks get a game early on.  Think you have the best 2 candidates in Thurlow and Currie though.

Forwards: Fairly solid, don't like your rookies though.  JKH is a lock for mine.  Honeychurch might play as well as Impey, but I'd be replacing Impey, Honeychurch and Merrett and maybe upgrading 1 if possible.

Overall, maybe downgrade SJ or Vince to bolster back line and slightly bolster forward line.

Thanks HOT TIGES.

How about this:

OUT: Bernie Vince. IN: Xavier Ellis or Josh Kelly or Dom Tyson (who do you think)
OUT: Matt Fuller. IN: Tom Clurey
OUT: Chad Wingard. IN: Jarred Roughead
OUT: Matthew Wright. IN: Dustin Martin

Maybe:
OUT: Will Minson. IN: Dean Cox (Save some cash)

that way i could upgrade SJ to Scott pendlebury?

Doggoneit

All sounds good

I would go with Ellis - cheaper and should give you similar or better output than the other two IMO

MatthewDoubrava

you dont think tyson or kelly istead of ellis

and keep cox instead of minson?

Doggoneit

Ellis is a senior player who has been injured - Kelly is a first year player - Tyson is a 3rd year player but not proven SC scorer yet

If Ellis stays fit I think he should outscore the other 2 and at $60k less is much better value - depends on how you see the injury concerns with Ellis.
West Coast will probably win more games that Melb and GWS combined - this means more SC points to go round.

I think Minson is better value than Cox - but thats more about age than anything . Cant go to far wrong with either IMO
