WESTERN Bulldogs star backman Robert Murphy will make an earlier than expected recovery from a serious elbow injury tonight.

Murphy will take his place in the Dogs' final intra-club practice match at Whitten Oval, catapulting the veteran line-breaker back into the club's likely Round 1 side.

If he emerges unscathed from tonight's hit-out, Murphy will play his 250th AFL game against West Coast in Perth on Sunday week, in a major selection boost for the emerging Dogs.

Will be interesting to see if Higgins stays at half back once Murphy returns

ROBERT Murphy has declared himself ready to line up in the Western Bulldogs' season opener on Sunday, after a speedy recovery from a nasty elbow injury.

The veteran Bulldog, who will play his 250th game for the club against the Eagles, was set to miss up to two months after suffering the injury at training at the start of February.
