What does everyone think of Ben Griffiths as a cheap option at D5? ( I have McDonald at D6)

Should kick a couple of goals a game, get about 15 possessions and around 15 hitouts (ruck relief for Hampson) which should equal to about 70-80 odd supercoach points a game.

Could be a good P.O.D too.

Priced at $230,000. What are everyone's thoughts on this guy?  ???

There was a lot of talk about him here a few weeks ago, but the talk has since sizzled and I havnt seen him in many teams

I think the concern most have is that his injury prone, JS is not rock solid, and the likes of Webster and other rookies seem to be more appealing

I am certainly looking at him I thought the same about being injury prone till someone on fan footy ( Bully I think ) said he has had trouble with mental demons more so could be a sneaky pick

Griffiths isn't such a bad pick because he's integral to Richmond's structure whilst Maric is out but he's still very raw as a footballer and is yet to truly stamp his claims in the starting lineup. If he has a few early hiccups then Elton may come in, or the forward structure may be rejigged with Vickery taking up the slack in the ruck and a shorter forward like Aaron Edwards coming in to fill a KP post. Too many question marks to take the plunge IMO. I think Griffiths appeared to be a viable pick when there were no backline rookies but with Clurey, Langford & Langdon all with similar JS, I'd definitely go the cheaper options.

Orren being upgraded off the rookie list yesterday isn't enticing for Griffith's scoring either.

i think he was upgraded as extra insurance for the Tigers and wouldn`t actually play unless another big man gets injured

Correct, Orren is insurance in case Hampson gets injured. Griffiths will be facing competition from Elton, who incidentally spent some time in the ruck in Richmond's last practice match.
