hey all,

just getting back into this stupid game that tortures me every year. havent seen jpk mentioned much. obv up until midseason last year he was must-have before a slight injury/form dropoff which affected his scoring (coinciding with tmitch's arrival?).

he's a r10 bye, cheapish price and potentially a good POD.

what is the general consensus around here?

what are the better options from non-r8 byes?

I've heard (not able to confirm) that he fired up in the practise match against Brisbane.  Maybe he was just easing into it a little.

I reckon he's an exceptional player who scores well and consistently.  A great POD, but who are you going to leave out to get him in?  that's the question that kills me each time I have a revelation.

Welcome back fever  :D
I think JPK could be a decent option. He's not too expensive and if he can bounce back he'll be a steal. He needs to stop handballing so much, as that has been hurting his scores.

He admitted he was carrying an injury (groin I think) for nearly all of last year. Despite this he still finished top 3 in the B&F.

He was my 3rd lock after GAZ & Libba.

He had an injury last year. He's now over been gunning it pre-season, good POD. Cheap

There are many players that should bounce back in 2014, trouble is fitting them all in. As a swans supporter he was restricted last year and the reported injuries make his kick to hb ratio explainable. He also stopped kicking goals in 2013, he was a consistant goal kicker in 2012 to further justify the drop in points.

In trials and the NAB he is back kicking goals, so there is an argument to say he is moving better. I have him locked but take my advice with a pinch of salt, as I see all things AFL through blood coloured glasses!

Welcome back

He said in an interview that he has carried a groin issue on and off for most of his career, the worry there is he might continue handballing to lessen the chance of re-injury, not sure if that sounds silly but its something iv considered since i am sure the swans want him as fit/playing as often as possible plus he seems to get the job done that way anyway,if he simply starts kicking more his scores should rise again you would imagine.
They have also eased his training load this preseason which should have helped him.

Was great in 2012 but honestly handballs too much. Too pricey for my liking compared to the others in his price age.

Have you read anything in this thread? If his groin is fixed, he'll kick it more  ::)

Not worth it IMO

That if you mentioned there is bigger than Elvis

Could be a gun but I wouldn't start him, prefer a wait and see approach. With that said last year he was great up until the bye, then dropped off a lot after that... tough call.

yeah i've elected to pass, but it;s more of a structural decision rather than jpk himself, i still have some faith in him.
