Okay guys, why has he become such a popular pick this year?

Only averaged mid 70s last year and yeah sure that will increase with buddy now gone but by how much? Enough to be a top 6 forward? ( Very Doubtful ) Will it increase enough to justify picking him over the likes of Pav/Zorko/Franklin.

Cheers guys!

Well for one, he is a very good player. I enjoy having players who are actually very good players and not just very good DT players!
Secondly, his avg has been brought down by 2 vests (for scores of 16 and 55).
Thirdly, he is young and still improving and plays for a very good team.
He is also a super accurate kick at goals.
He should be good for an 85 average this year I reckon.

Money

Think he can go 90+ and he's locked into my F4 spot

mainly due to his ton and 95 in the finals last year
or that's the swaying point for me

he's also in the pile of Pav/Robbo/Zorko/Chappy and those latter 3 don't exactly inspire me with confidence

not too sure he'll be a top 6 fwd by year end (but then other than Dusty and Danger, i'm not sure who will be) so he'll probably serve as a good stepping stone till I can see who's performing

Do you guys think he is a better pick than roughy this year?

For the price yes.  Both guys can cover a lot of ground, but prob won't be till round 1 that we find out how opposition teams are going to take on these 2, but I like Gunston over Roughy at this stage although I think both guys will be reasonably unique.

Thanks mate :) It seems hard to look past roughy at the moment though. He looked sharper than I have ever seen him against the dees over the weekend.

Yeah the fact that I already have Martin and Danger means Roughy will be an upgrade target for me if my other smokey fwds don't fire.  ;)

Probably yes at the start of the year but come to the seasons end, Roughy will easily average more i reckon

Still don't understand how Gunston can be such a 'lock' in so many teams. Two good scores in finals are a good thing but dont necessarily mean it will continue throughout this year.
With buddy gone this will mean he will attract the second best defender instead of the third and at sometimes when roughy is playing up the ground Gunston will get the best defender which he wouldn't have had in recent years

Scrads

Gunston will be a terrible pick.

Now everyone stfu about him ;)

Yeah I think roughy is the safe option and if gunston does fire I will target him as an upgrade down the track. Cheers man :)

I've got him because I've been a big fan of him since his Crows days and he beats his opponent so often, I think he stepped up late last year with some pretty decent scores throughout the year, but I feel those scores will be a bit more consistent this year hence why I have him in my team...at this satge!
