Scans this morning have confirmed that Brisbane Lions midfielder Claye Beams has fractured his foot.

The injury, to the fifth metatarsal of his left foot, was sustained on Saturday during the Club's practice match against the Sydney Swans.

Beams will have surgery tonight and is expected to miss approximately 8 weeks.

The apostrophe in copy-paste strikes again Ric!

Beams was just about locked for Round 1 IMO, really been working hard and deserved to start the season. Hopefully he has a good recovery and can come into the side mid-season.

So bloody annoying.

Disappointed for Claye. He really deserved a clean run at the season after his past

Ringo

Disappointed for Cly worked so hard last season in rehab only to have this happen after looking so good in the trial matches.

nrich102

Second most unlucky player in the AFL after Morabito.

Is there a timeline on his return? Could be a good mid-season downgrade?

Jroo

Beams has had no luck at all.
Could be a good downgrade target.

inb4 injured most of the season, doesn't get a game, traded to port adelaide and is a lock in 2015 dt.

Morabito + first round pick for 2nd round pick might be tempting for Port
